5 STARS for Dr. Neifing (endocrinologist) and Karen Hale (phlebotomist) 1 STAR for Julianne Zable (phlebotomist) My first visit to PDEC with Dr. Neifing was excellent. He and his staff took great care to go over every single one of my existing ailments and answer every question that I had. I left the office confident that they knew and understood my situation in detail and that care going forward will be properly informed by the data and observations.

I was sent around the corner with Karen Hale to draw blood - she did a wonderful job. Quick and painless and friendly and patient; in other words, perfect. Unfortunately, my experience was massively worse with Julianne Zable, who was my phlebotomist the next morning. While she was quite friendly and pleasant, the blood draw was exceptionally painful.

I had to yell. She began making excuses; I've had several draws in recent weeks without any extraordinary or unreasonable pain, so none of the excuses landed for me. Maybe she's had better luck with others, but in my case, the lack of care and skill prompted me to call back on my drive home to get her name for this review and warn others. We're not livestock, everyone deserves humane treatment, even for pedestrian procedures like a simple blood draw. Frankly, even livestock deserves better. If you need to get your blood drawn at PDEC, anyone but Julianne!

I started going there when my A1c was getting out of control. They helped me get it back under control, and gave me a lot of knowledge and support in doing so. They are a very "no nonsense" place. Get in there, get what you need, get out. It's efficient, and effective, and I can definitely respect that. They manage prescriptions effectively, they handle appointments effectively, they do blood draws well, and have treated me with respect. I've had no problems with them, and can certainly recommend them.

If I could give this place a lower rating I would. They had me come in multiple times charging me 50 dollars each time. I went to OHSU once and they had everything needed to take care of my thyroid. This place is money hungry and they are terrible people. I called and left a message to cancel my appointment and they charged me 100 dollars. During COVID while everybody is struggling this place sues me for the cancellation fee and has my wage garnished! All over 100 dollars when I called in time to cancel. NEVER EVER GO HERE!

I really appreciate Dr. Grady's knowledge, thoroughness, willingness to listen and follow up, and kindness. I feel like I'm in the best possible hands for my endocrine conditions. I have seen several other doctors at this practice over the years who are also excellent. I have been impressed by the staff as well. Many thanks!

If you are serious about diabetes care, PDEC is the best in the Portland area. If you are using a pump, CGM, or want to keep up on the latest in technology, PDEC is the place to go. I've been a patient at PDEC for 10 years so I've been treated by a number of doctors.

This place is very busy and I'm not sure why other than they lack competition. I think the doctors are satisfactory, perhaps would do better with a less disorganized office staff. I have been seen 3 times so I feel I can give a fair assessment. In the past I've had serious endocrine problems and I am thankful this place never managed my care. They are difficult to communicate with and blame others for their lack of responsiveness.

Most recently I had a visit on 10/20. It took several calls to get the lab orders received at Salem Health, but more frustrating was the lack of follow-up. I contacted PDEC 3 times without success of receiving my labs. Plus I complained about symptoms I was having and my complaint was ignored. I relied on "Dr. Google" for my symptoms as I needed to do something.

I was sick of contacting PDEC without a successful outcome so I tried a different tactic. I had my pharmacy fax an ordered for a 90 qty med refill. I thought surely they won't fill medication without having my lab results. Nope, I was wrong. My labs were completed 10/29 and it was on 12/02 that PDEC is approving a refill for med that may not be the correct dose as it is lab dependent.

My labs were received today 12/27 as my husband called Salem Health and insisted they fax them to PDEC. Salem Health is worthless too, but PDEC should've actually called Salem Health instead of always hitting submit on the eFAX. A phone call would've saved us all time. It seems I'm in for round two for this blarney as the MA has faxed another lab order today to Salem Health.

I asked they be attached to my portal or emailed, but my request was once again ignored. I don't plan to be in Oregon very long, so will likely settle for this inadequate care, but highly advise anyone else to keep looking.

Richard Bergstrom, endocrinologist, at Providence St. Vincent's Hospital, is affable, patient oriented, and unrushed. I've been his patient for more than 20 years and always happy in my consultations with him. In fact, he gives a more thorough physical exam, and asks more pertinent questions, than most PCPs and other specialists -- a knowledgeable and likable guy who doesn't believe himself to be omniscient. Highly recommended. (The only negative is that the office seems understaffed, and the personnel rushed.)

These clinic is very strange. I was referred there over two months ago and have called them 4 times and never gotten a return call. My regular physician even called them to ensure they received the referral, but nothing. My friend and neighbor has also seen someone there and was treated rudely by the staff (twice)! No excuse for that - no matter how busy they may be and as for me - I am not interested in going to a clinic where staff and physicians are rude or unresponsive. I hope I can fine a better place.

10+ the highest mark is my rating for Dr. Scott Grady. Having moved this past year to Portland I was in need of an Endocrinologist. How fortunate I was to be connected with Dr. Scott Grady at PDEC. His medical knowledge coupled with his listening skills gave me great confidence that my medical issues would be thoroughly addressed as they have been. I highly recommend Dr. Scott Grady!

Dr. Bergstrom has been my Doctor for over 8 years. He has been my kidney transplant Endro He is the best Doctor. He is, caring, concerned and always there when I have needed him. I trust his judgement 100%. The staff is always very nice too. I can't say enough wonderful words about Dr. Bergstrom. He is the type of Doctor everyone wants to be blessed with.

I would love to award more stars but just can't. This place is just about getting you in and out. I feel stressed, rushed, like I am just another number among the vast numbers they see daily. Twice I've been rushed in, yet wait a long time for a doctor in the exam room. Also, they have the worst on-line check in system possible. I just don't do it and wait until I get there. Wish I didn't need to come here at all.

I have been a patient at PDEC for about 3 years. I initially saw Dr. Beard, but since he retired I have been seeing Karen Jacobsen for my Grave's disease. Karen is very knowledgeable and patient and doesn't make me feel guilty when I've been less than compliant with my medication. She explains things precisely and makes sure I understand. She is timely in giving me my lab values and always communicates with my PCP. I have no complaints!

I have had no verbal communication with the PA since having a blood test and 24 hour urine output. She just writes notes on the test results that are mailed to me. When there are negative readings a medical professional should call and discuss them with a patient. Also, she never reviewed my medical records before seeing me and I couldn't even get an appointment before they were sent.

All other medical providers review my records before seeing me or go over them before seeing me. I called yesterday and left a message that she has had no verbal communication regarding my test results and this is unacceptable, and this has to change or I want a new provider. I haven't heard back yet. If I don't hesr back, I'm calling my primary care physician to discuss this.

PDEC is a very busy practice, so be prepared to wait a bit for your first appointment. Once there, though, you can expect a productive visit. I found the whole staff to be friendly and competent. Dr. Grady is a force of nature: he's thoroughly educated in his field and he applies his knowledge with academic rigor. I was cared for with respect and I felt like his primary goal was to help me feel as well as I possibly can. The phlebotomists in the lab were excellent at what they do, and the front office staff was kind and welcoming. I feel I have gained a real resource here.

Let me begin by saying that I typically do not write reviews, and the fact that my doctor James Neifing is an excellent doctor and I have every intention of continuing with his care. This review is about a physicians assistant that works out of Dr Neifings office. As the Doctors are so busy at this clinic they have physician assistants doing alot of the minutia in the office as the Doctors are overbooked in many cases.

A few weeks ago I was in for my quarterly check in appointment and while I was in the exam room waiting for the PA to come in, I had taken off my mask so my glasses would not be fogged up so I could read a few things on my cell phone as I was waiting 20 minutes for the PA to come into the exam room. The nurse had already taken my vitals and I was waiting for quite some time.

In any case when the PA came in, and her name is Karen Jacobsen, she began by saying put on your mask, which I immediately did. After I put it on which it was on correctly, she totally started yelling and screaming at me that it was not on correctly and that I was not going to give her covid and she stormed off! I drove 25 miles each way to come to my appointment and this was my greeting.

I never got my appointment, and I find it really hard to understand how anyone in the position of dealing with people had so little people skills. This doctors office would be much better served having her in a position of medical records or anything else that does not put her and her atrocious attitude in front of any Patients or paying customers.

My name is Eric Kalik I am 60 years old and I will not be spoken to like I am 10 years old by some egotistical, potentially book smart person with zero person to person skills, let alone someone that professes to be a medical professional? just curious how or why yelp would delete this review?

First time ever visiting the clinic today, Dr Amy Carter was very informative and explained things to me in a way that I was able to understand. She answered my questions and had good bedside manner. Very understanding and kind. Ladies in the lab were very kind and caring, I became dizzy and felt ill during blood draw and they made me feel comfortable and supported.

I give the office a high review because I have been coming to the office since October 66 and I have been with them through all their moves and I did have to change doctors in 1990Due to my doctor retiring and I have been very happy with Dr. Bergstrom. He is also following me for thyroid issues. He is great!

I loved my doctor before he moved to this location. He used to be at Legacy in NW. Since moving to St. Vincent the service has sucked! They put another patient's results in my file chart. I had another person's diabetic results in my file. I am not diabetic! I have Hashimoto's Thyroid Disease. My doctor recently switched my dosage and wanted me to come in and get my labs redone, and getting an appointment for a blood test has been like pulling teeth. I've had to call three separate times.

Put on hold, transferred and the first two times resulted in not being scheduled. Finally the third time, I had to threaten filing a complaint. The staff is very disorganized. Doctor Grady! Please move your practice, or I might have to switch doctors.

This place.if I could give it zero stars, I would. Having a major medical issue is stressful enough without having to constantly call and make these people do their jobs. Good luck actually getting an actual human to take your call, also good luck getting someone to call you back. Stay away if you can, but it's tough because they're one of two (equally terrible) options for endocrinology in Portland. **Update: had to go for my blood work today to make sure my liver/white blood cell count is not being affected by the methimazole for hyperthyroidism.

Not only did they not know what I was coming in for when I got there, but I got a call back two hours later saying I have to have my blood re-drawn because they tested for the wrong things. I have no words other than STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND SANITY.

I never got a call confirming my appointment. When I called the day before my appointment to confirm my time and the (new) doctor I was seeing, nobody answered my phone call and nobody called me back even though I left a message with my name and phone number. Then, when I checked in and mentioned this the front desk people weren't even apologetic and didn't address the issue at all.

The nurse who took my vitals didn't even remember which doctor I was supposed to be seeing. Finally, I had to wait for almost 30 minutes for the doctor to actually see me. The doctor himself was very nice, but I probably won't be coming back because of the absolutely poor service and logistical management.

As a fairly new diabetic (LADA), diabetes can be scary and intimidating especially considering what the hospital staff tells you usually doesnt register immediately. I started seeing Dr. Senashova and FNP Laurel Zuberi, both are amazing. My first appointment with Dr. Senashova was a good hour of discussion. With lots of good information and guidelines.

They got me set up on an omnipod within a few months of diagnosis. When you call to set up an appointment, the staff is friendly and helpful. Be prepared to schedule well in advance because they are in very high demand. Recently i had issues with my pump settings resulting in wild fluctuations in glucose. I called that morning and less than an hour later Laurel's medical assistant called back and got lots of info.

I got a call back from Laurel clearly after office hours, to get me in THE NEXT DAY, to fix my problems and get things corrected. I also showed up late for an appointment with Dr Senashova because i wrote down the time wrong. Despite being an hour late, they took me in with no problems. A+ patient care from Laurel, Dr. Senashova and staff

If I could give negative stars I would. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and high risk. My OBGYN called them to get me in immediately for my thyroid disorder. This place said they would call me to schedule an appointment. I gave them until the end of the week. No call. I've called 3 times since in the past 2 weeks and no return call. The lady at the main desk isn't even willing to listen to me since I'm a new patient and immediately transfers me to the new patient voicemail.

Terrible customer service and complete lack of patient care. If they can't accept new patients then just say it! I'll be looking into reporting them to the better business bureau. Just terrible!

I'm giving it a 2 for now. I have called twice and have spoken to 2 different office admins that are so rude! I have no idea what the doctors are like they could be fantastic but I'm considering having my daughter's info sent to Dornbecher instead. At least the staff their is friendly. If they can't be bothered to answer any simple questions about the new patient process how could they be bothered to do their jobs properly and actually give good patient care?
