A cataract is a "clouding" of the eye's natural lens. Which, results in blurred or defocused vision. Generally speaking, cataracts are often described as looking through wax paper or cloudy cellophane. More than 20 million adults in the U.S. have developed cataracts. Thus, making it the number one cause of poor vision in the United States.

I had cataract surgery performed over the last two months. Dr. Bardes made me feel comfortable with the surgery and the surgery experience at Stonewall Jackson was much better than I had expected. All of my appointments were well scheduled, respectful of my time and all my questions were answered in detail. The surgical process was a breeze. While the post surgical drops seem unrelenting, I'd fully recommend Regional Eye as the place to go to, for your eye surgical needs. They are up to date with their techniques, equipment and processes.

I have been to many doctor appointments over the years at different facilities for myself, taking my kids, and mother. This by far is the cleanest place I have been in. Doctors are very nice and friendly. The Exam rooms, restrooms, and waiting rooms are very clean. Great job to the cleaning staff and the friendly doctors. Front desk has some issues but I'll trade that for friendly doctors and cleanliness.

This is my experience with Regional Eye in Petersburg. I had made an appointment. The day of the appointment, I was called at 7am to let me know there had been an emergency, and they had to cancel my appointment, and they would call me back to reschedule. I waited a week, with no phone call. I finally called, and made an appointment myself. I got in on October 26th.
I got there early, since I didn't know where the office was. I was there at 12:15, and my appointment was suppose to be at 1pm. Several people started coming in, and they also had an appointment at 1pm. A total of 4 at the same time. There was only 1 doctor there that day. The receptionist was not friendly, and barely acknowledged you. The technician was also cold.
I asked questions, and she wouldn't answer them, and then when she did acknowledge me it was very short, and cold. I didn't get called back until 1:30. The doctor finally came in, and really didn't explain what was wrong. He called in a prescription. I went to pick it up the next day. It was eye drops for 18days, and with insurance they still wanted $209.00.
I called back on Friday, and said could I get something else that was cheaper. They told me they would contact the doctor, and get back with me. I didn't hear anything that day. It is now Monday, and I called them to see what was going on. They said they were waiting for the doctors approval. When I went by at 3pm it still hadn't been called in.
I called the office, and they said they were still waiting for the doctor. How unprofessional this office is. I would not recommend this office to anyone. Unfortunately, if you have to see an Opthamologist, they are the only ones in our area. I would highly recommend you going elsewhere.
