My interest in medicine began at a very early age. I decided to pursue cardiology after my father died from complications from atrial fibrillation. I chose to study heart disease in depth, which has allowed me to extend advanced training and understanding to cure arrhythmias. I truly enjoy my interaction with patients and the immense pleasure I derive from helping them heal.
Dr. Jiken Bhatt has dedicated his professional career to advanced cardiac care. He brings his warmth of personality and outstanding skills to our team of specialists at San Diego Cardiac Center. He has achieved an array of specialties in cardiac care and treatments and is dedicated to helping his patients live healthier lives through educating them in preventative care to assisting the critically ill with groundbreaking diagnostics and treatments.Dr. Bhatt has spent years achieving his professional skills through an advanced level of education.
Dr. Daniel Cepin brings a notable level of knowledge and experience to the advanced cardiac care team at San Diego Cardiac Center. He is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, and has over four decades serving the people in the San Diego community experiencing cardiovascular diseases and conditions and are seeking advanced medical care.
Throughout my 26 years in practice I have not only continued to learn about heart care, I have focused on trying to treat each patient as a unique person. I will do my best to find the diagnostic approach and therapy that are best tailored for the needs of each individual under my care. Dr. Hoagland even sent me a blood pressure monitor so I can monitor my blood pressure every day.

The San Diego Cardiac Center is amazing. They really treat patients like they would their own family. My family had a really rough year and the cardiac center is helping shed some light in this situation. I am so grateful to all the staff. My 91yrold dad had 2 procedures back to back. A week later we come in for the re-check, the dr was an hour late. My dad was struggling to sit in the same position for that due to stress on his incision. And now he doesnt want to go back. This is not very helpful for his caregiver. I know they are busy. So why dont they be a little more prompt for patients who just had surgery

The employees here are very nice and helpful. The service you get here is great I was in and out pretty quickly once you get checked in. It's best to make or have a appointment. The staff is friendly. I had a nice experience here.

I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at the front doors of the Sharp Memorial ER a few years ago this time of year. Every birthday reminds me of the incredible care I received from the San Diego Cardiac Care Team of MD's. Dr. Hoagland saw me and started CPR with the ER nurse Jessica. The ER team got me on a gurney and inside and continued CPR mechanically and manually along with a few paddle shocks for 32 minutes to no avail.

I was gone! 61 years old in good shape, did 2 miles on treadmill every day prior to a mile swim and then in a heartbeat, gone. Dr. Narula saved my life that night by putting an emergency LAD stent all while hooked up to ECMO! He gets 10 stars. He's my hero. He stopped to see me everyday in the hospital and has taken great care of me ever since. He's a happy guy even after a long day which makes such a difference. Every time I see him he gives me HOPE for the future. Dr. Narula gave me a second chance and for that I owe him my life. Thank you.

The front desk people over the phone are so rude, nasty, and apathetic. They blame the doctors for the lack of appointments. They have jerked me around for 3 months. Now i have to wait another month and half to talk to the Dr Mehta. That's a total of 5 1/2 months to find out my heart condition. I asked to talk to a manager. She hung up on me. SHARP should not refer patients to these losers.

Dr. Kahn recently saved my life (Feb 2021). I will be forever grateful! I went to the hospital because I was very weak and rapidly getting sicker. My first few days in the hospital are a blank. I do recall the visit with Dr. Kahn. He explained my issue with my heart and it must be addressed right away. He spoke with such compassion and concern, and made sure I understood everything that was happening.

The following day I went in to cardiac arrest. Thanks to the wonderful nurses, I was brought back. Dr. Kahn came in and did the emergency procedure and saved my life. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and caring cardiologist, Dr. Kahn is your man! ~ Charlotte Odom

I recently wrote a bad review for the Sdcc. Since then they have reached out to me and listened to my concerns and complaints. They have turned my bad experience around and have made an effort to make sure my bad experience doesn't happen to anyone else. I am thankful for this.

Most disrespectful office I have ever dealt with. They refuse to process disability insurance claims within a timely manner. They literally left me unable to work and unable to get paid by the state for disability because they refuse to complete the paperwork. I have never dealt with an office like this, I will definitely never deal with them again, and I encourage you to reconsider other options when choosing a medical provider.

Very unprofessional DOCTORs! I'm just stating what really happened, not to be sexist or targeting any groups of people. The female doctor which I didn't remember her name was asking my aunt (a non-English speaker) some questions, with me being the translator. She has some gestures like tilting her head when my aunt talks or me translating to my aunt expressing her unprofessionalism. Very racist, I would say!

My Doctor told me i was going to feel great when he was done with the Heart Cathider (i have pulmonary hypertension) I was in the recovery room, when my Doctor stopped at the foot of the bed! And said? CAN'T HELP YOU and walked away! I thought he was joking, it was when he didn't come back that I realized he wasn't joking! 2 years later, I was referred to him again!

I called via telephone to schedule the appointment only to be told that I was not allowed any appointment or allowed in the office due to a unpaid bill. I never received a bill via mail, no phone call or even when I was in the office did anyone say I owed. The doctor did nothing to help my condition that is very important to me. I've heard of being kicked out of a bar before but being kicked out of a cardiologists office the most important doctor in the world! They are to help you with a heart attack not give you one

I have received very best of care from every single person I have interfaced with in his office. I have to go for a specialized therapy five days a week for seven weeks, so I feel like I have an excellent opportunity for a fair review of long term care. The nurses, doctors and technicians are amazing, caring, and compassionate. I can highly recommend this office for your cardiology needs.

I was recently referred to this practice. My appointment was at 3:40 and I arrived at 3:30 to fill out some paperwork. The staff at the front desk were very nice and knowledgable about the process. It took only 10 minutes from the time I checked in to the time I saw my cardiologist. I personally thought that was amazing. No long wait times. I was then prescribed a series of tests which the front desk promptly scheduled. I am reserving one star to see if they Re able to resolve my medical issues but thus far the service of both the doctors and staff have been excellent.

Dr. Hoagland is a great Doctor and took care of me for a couple of years. Once I was diagnosed with afib, he passed me over to Dr Athill. Dr Athill performed ablation on me and cured me of my afib. How can you rate a Dr. that gives your lifestyle back to you. I was really suffering from the afib and now I I have never felt better. 5 stars just isn't enough. Jill always called back when I had questions on my recovery.

Always made me feel better. Now I see Marc Verlasky to follow up and to make sure my afib does not come back. He really takes his time to listen, is very intelligent and just is a pleasure to see. I like everything about the San Diego Cardiac Center.

Dr. Mahan has been my doctor for many many years. He has saved my life more than once. He is friendly & takes his time to listen to you no matter how long it takes. I feel lucky to have him as my cardiologist.

I would never recommend anyone go here. After putting in a pacemaker, Dr. Athill never wants to see you. His staff does not want to be bothered returning phone calls. My doctor never saw any reports and I discovered they were sending them to the wrong doctor. So much for Hippa. I had some serious problems and could not get anyone to talk to me, finally a nurse named Jan rudely told me that I was over- reacting, I was merely suffering from dehydration.

I went to a different cardiologist and needed immediate five vessel bypass surgery. Made me wonder why a guy with Dr. Athill's credentials is not doing research at a big named hospital. If you have to use them, get a copy of your medical records, they are different from what they tell you.

It is with sadness that I write this review as I loved my experiences with Dr. Athil, who I believe is excellent, but as the expression goes "you are only as good as your staff" and his staff has been unacceptable since the beginning of my experiences with the San Diego Cardiac Center. I won't go into all the details, but suffice to say as an example they do not call back in a timely manner and the last straw of many unacceptable experiences, I called twice today to say I had a nose bleed and was leaving for a cruise and needed to speak to someone, and when on blood thinners nose bleeds can be serious and still no one ever called back today.

And then previously I was put on other meds I got very dizzy and when called to report it, and when they eventually got back to me (also delayed calling back), I was told it couldn't be their meds for 2 long dizzy weeks and it had to be something else. I couldn't imagine it being something else as this was the only new meds I was taking.

Eventually I got to see the doctor and he said "well simple solution is stop the new meds and see if the dizziness goes away." Sure enough it did. now the only way I got to see the doctor was making a big stink about it all. This is just not acceptable. This is just two of 5 serious issues with staff over a year period. Maybe its me, but the issues were just far to serious to be messing with and I should have taken the hint from the beginning when it all started to get away from this staff. Well, tonight I have made the decision that I will sadly switch doctors and get the responses one deserves and should always get from medical staff. UPDATE: Well well well. minutes after posting and after 9 hours they did finally call me, but ya know I have worried all day about this and not rescinding it.

It h as happened too many times. And telling me "even aspirin says it has all kinds of side effects and so not to worry as they all say they have side effects". no I was worried.

I wish I didn't have a cardiologist but. If you must have one, this must be the place! Dr. Hoagland is awesome and a rare breed. Not often you find a specialist that actually talks to you and even remembers you on return visits. I feel very comfortable knowing the knowledge base in this facility is out of this world and Dr. Hoagland has a genuine concern for my health and well being. I hope you never need a cardiologist but if you do, go here!

I have been a patient here since at least 2000. The staff is fantastic and caring. Dr. Miller treats me every two months with routine checkups and also checks my heart equipment. He takes his time and never makes me feel rushed. I have had to be seen on an emergency basis a couple of times and there was never a problem getting in right away. Dr. Athill implanted my defibrillator and is also quite caring and wonderful. I have total confidence in San Diego Cardiac Center.

This morning I called the cardiac center to make an appointment for my Mother. I spoke to Rebecca. She was hand's-down one of the rudest people I have ever had to deal with. She wanted to know my Mom's doctor's first name and would not make an appointment without it, even though she had the doctor's order for an echocardiogram right in front of her, she said she couldn't read her writing.not my problem.

Then she wanted my Mom's insurance info which I didn't have at the moment and wouldn't make an appointment without it.even when I offered to call back with it. If this is any indication of the way this group does business I am dreading taking my Mother here.

I hadn't planned on writing a review of the San Diego Cardiac Center. But when I surprisingly saw they had only 2 and a half stars (based on only two reviews) I felt I needed to say something. I had a heart attack in 1994. Dr. Mahan at the SD Cardiac Center has been my cardiologist ever since. I have seen him every six months ever since. He has kept me healthy and alive.

I had to have frequent tests to regain and to maintain my FAA Medical Certificate since I was a pilot for a major airline. I have never had any problem in the 18 years I have been using the Center. Their staff has always been professional and courteous. Their scheduler, Donna is especially bright, cheerful, and helpful. Since I often needed records for the FAA, I never had a problem obtaining them.

For many years I have used another medical group (Sharp Rees Stealy who are excellent too) for medical service and treatment. Nevertheless for my cardiac care I have stayed with the SD Cardiac Center and Dr. Mahan because of their excellent care. I do not even hesitate giving them 5 stars in all areas.
