Sandhills Pediatrics traces our roots to the first pediatrician in the Southeast, Dr. William S. Weston, who began practicing in the early 1900's. We were founded in 1975 by Dr. S. Nelson Weston and Dr. Charles A. James with the merger of their successful practices. Dr. Nelson Weston is the grandson of Dr. William S. Weston and also practiced with his father, Dr. William S. Weston, Jr.
Sandhills Pediatrics Downtown is open Saturday and Sunday mornings for emergency sick visits. We encourage you to call us should your child become ill to ensure continuity of care is established. Our offices are equipped to assist you for most illnesses/injuries. In addition, since we have access to your child's chart, our physicians are able to offer comprehensive care.
The first step to transferring your child to our office is to complete a medical record release so that we can retrieve your child's records from your previous doctor. The practice functions most effectively as a medical home if patients/families provide a complete medical history and information about care obtained outside the practice. For more information, or for obtaining a medical record release, please call one of our convenient practice locations!
We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to fully immunize their child(ren) according to the recommended immunization schedule published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Failure to immunize the patient as below will be considered a voluntary termination of the doctor patient relationship and result in the patient having to transfer to another practice. We recognize that some parents wish to pursue an "alternative" or delayed immunization schedule.

We've been very happy with this practice. The office staff is knowledgeable and pleasant; it's never a bother to get in touch with someone for questions or to make an appointment; and we love that we can wait in the car for our visits instead of spending time in a waiting room. Dr. McFarland is very thorough and always patient to answer all of our questions.

Check in was fast and efficient-they've struggled with this over the pandemic, but have seemed to figure out a process that finally works. Their staff are still following strict protocols to prevent spread of COVID, which continues to keep healthy kids safe from other communicable diseases. Everyone was nice and knowledgeable and very gentle with my 4 month old.

The nurse tech was gentle and efficient with getting us to an exam room and performing all the initial assessments/getting measurements. Dr. Brock was kind and thorough as always-he's so considerate and always asks permission/doesn't shame or make assumptions about parenting preferences. The nurse even managed to get a smile out of her after administering 2 shots. A+ service today!

Being a first time mom, I was nervous to be open. But at Sandhills Pediatrics there is nothing to be nervous about. They will educate you as much as possible and make you feel as if you're at home, wanting the best for you and your child. I left more knowledgeable about things I needed to know about lactation and ways that my baby and I can connect with the community.

I love taking my daughter to Dr. Brock she has been seeing him since she was 2 months old and she is almost 5 know. I have custody of my 12 year old neice who has some issues and he took her immediately without hesitant. He has been wonderful with her especially since she has issues. Never had to deal with any of the other drs except for maybe on the weekend a time or two but they are were great also. Never have a problem and like I said I have been going to them for almost 5 years.

Dr. Brock was amazing with my teenage daughter. Then I had my son and had been voicing concerns about his health from birth. Dr. Brock didn't initially listen to our concerns so now at 10mo he just has surgery that could've taken place at 4m had he listened. Since the pandemic, you should expect to wait outside in your car for 1-2 hours before being called inside.

I repeatedly voiced their lack of regards for people's time because they are always overbooking too many patients in one day. I then finally asked for a first appointment in hopes we wouldn't wait long. Wait time was the same. Naturally, I complained again about time and the lovely Dr. Brock suggested he wouldn't see my kids anymore. Fine. Because of whatever he put in my kids chart, other doctors in the area won't see my kids.

My 10mo just had surgery last week, is in need of his daily medication and I can't get a prescription as no one will see my kids. Would NOT recommend unless you have no concerns about your kids health and have all the time in the world to waste.

FUCK this place! We are a returning patient (we moved a year ago and just moved back) but they won't see us on a Saturday EVEN THOUGH we've been members for 15+ years, my older kids and my sisters kids used this office BUT because technically we are considered "new" a doctor needs to approve his return. They wouldn't even call his former doctor because he's not on duty.

They also wouldn't call the current dr on duty to make a judgment call! The doctors are amazing but staff not so much! They would rather us take our high risk 3 year old to the ER ( in the middle of a pandemic) then make a call to help us in our time of need! The staff has no heart or the testicular fortitude to make a call. YOU Allison are a heartless woman with no spine or compassion who shouldn't be in the medical field much less working in a pediatricians office! You have FAILED as a decent human!
