Dr. Rodger Silverstein is a fifth-generation Ophthalmologist who has been practicing since 1981. Dr. Silverstein says he always knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfathers before him, one of whom even contributed to the development of contact lenses! Dr. Silverstein also trained under Dr. Long, a pioneer of macular surgery and Dr. Fyodorov, the father of corneal refractive surgery.
My love of eyes started when I wrote an article for a class in school about the evolution of eyes. It is truly a miracle we are able to see. This love blossomed into a passion, and I found myself drawn to the field of Optometry. Each patient has special needs and requirements to obtain the best possible vision available to them.
My interest in eye health began when a close family member was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that affected her eyes. It took many months of consultations with various different specialists until an eye doctor finally discovered the root of her condition. I remember trying to understand how her condition came about, and later realizing how our visual system is so interconnected with the rest of our organs.
Some dry eye is intermittent, from being tired, being out in the wind or sun, contact lens wear, eye fatigue, or medications. Some is chronic, from tear insufficiency, inflammation, or MGD. If you think your eyes are feeling dry, itchy, gritty, watery, or blurry at times, it's important to speak to your doctor.

It's like the blind leading the blind. It took this Company days to get some simple information to me. It seems like no one in the office knows how to get anything done. They just come up with excuses. I know there is Covid. But why does it take days to get my basic prescription and the name of a manufacturer. They kept saying people were out of the office.

For multiple days I heard excuses. Multiple messages were left on their voicemail. I would not trust a doctor who cannot get his back office in order to get some basic information to their patients. A prescription and a manufacturer. That is all I needed.

I visited two times for an eye exam. The doctor Molly Golz is awful. She rushes you and doesn't even do a thorough job. Awful experience and awful doctors.

We live in short hills and for the convenience we have been put up with this office. The staffer (one receptionist particularly abd a few others less )were rude and felt to be condescending (by skin color). I used to think at least the doctors were professional. But for the past year and half, they have made multiple mistakes, by forgetting to order lenses (emergency replacement!), or sending the lenses to a different than where the office was directed to.

Never an apology given. My boys both got their updated OK lenses this March from this office with Dr. Katie Lo, the one who made the mistakes earlier. By August, my children couldn't even pass the school eye screening! We took them to see a different doctor to find a solution for their school. I was outraged when the new doctor (new different office) told us and showed us the pictures and the problems with my children's eyes! 1st of all, they never saw anything properly all these years with this office!

The OK lenses were supposed to be custom made, but apparently this office uses generic lenses and manipulate themselves while they aren't even good at doing that! As a result, both my boys eye sights got HORRIBLELY worse during the past few years. Particularly, one of boys has a lazy eye. The problem I mentioned to the doctor more than once. Never did they admitted or diagnosed the problem!

Now the new doctor advised us to see a therapist. With this new doctor, we are starting all over again. To do that, they boys have to let their eyes recover to neutral, the meantime they are wearing soft contacts. They couldn't believe how well they could actually see! How sad is it?! Horrible office, horrible doctors! Dr. Katie Lo particularly! Unprofessional, Unqualified!

Medicaid clients BEWARE. Office policy is to not disclose that while they may take Medicaid insurance for an eye exam, they DO NOT take Medicaid insurance to make eye glasses. You are left on your own to find a provider to make eye glasses from the prescription the ophthalmology group provides. If you as a Medicaid client want an exam AND glasses made at the same location, then AVOID this ophthalmology group.

This was truly a waste of time for our family as we lost income with a day taken off of work and missed school to go to an appointment that we would not have scheduled if we were given FULL DISCLOSURE of their practice to not make glasses for Medicaid insurance plans. It feels as if this opthamology group wants to make money from Medicaid eye exams but not provide low-cost eyewear that Medicaid will cover - leaving low-income people in a bind of either outright buying expensive frames and lenses from Short Hills Opthamology Group or navigate finding a Medicaid eyewear manufacturer on their own.

Short Hills Opthamology practices "omission" for profit that takes advantage of low-income people and families. As an aside, the front office staff was very professional, polite, and helpful! Thank you for your patience and understanding of our family's frustrations.

Nothing but positive things to say about everyone there! They also have great COVID measures in place from calling in before being allowed inside, temperature read and social distanced seating.

I visited the Clifton office and it is the best doctors office I have ever been to. Staff is so friendly. Billing Manager, Becky, explained my insurance coverage in terms that I was able to understand prior to my visit. The front desk person, Larissa, I believe her name is, was very courteous and friendly. The doctor was knowledgeable and took time to answer my questions. Kim at Creative Eyewear Optical was great at showing me glasses that looked good and were affordable. Kim was also great at explaining what my vision plan covered and what I would be responsible for.

The glasses are amazing! I can actually see! The complimentary coffee and tea is a nice touch and the television in the waiting room was enjoyable to watch while my eyes dilated. Overall, very pleasant experience and I will be back as well as my family and friends.

A very good place for eye exams. Dr Farbowitz is nice and professional, and have very nice equipments. However, the indoor optical shop is not recommended. The optical shop staff is not professional and shows little respect to the customers.
