Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology (ECHO) Associates is proud to provide expert hematology and oncology care to patients across Eastern Connecticut for over 30 years. Our goal to provide patients and their families with access to the latest treatments and resources in a personalized and compassionate manner.
Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology Associates is committed to the care and improvement of human life. In recognition of this commitment, we strive to provide high-quality healthcare in the communities we serve. We act with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness in the way we conduct our business and in the way we live our lives.
In 1985, Dr. Dennis Slater moved from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York to Norwich, Connecticut. This was in response to the recruitment by The William W. Backus Hospital for a medical oncologist. He began a private practice with the objective of developing a program that would allow patients to receive state-of-the-art cancer treatment within the comfort and convenience of their own community. Over time, Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology grew in size and scope and became the predominant private practice in the area.
It is our goal to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art community cancer care while remaining responsive to our patients, their families, and our community. Our offices and services are located in the Medical Office Building of Backus Hospital, upstairs from Radiation Therapy and near the Cancer Inpatient Unit at Backus.

After months of treatment I can attest that the doctors and assistants here are great. Of course, with so many people there may be personalities that don't always mesh well but you can always ask for someone else to work with.

This is the most honest review I've ever written. I started to go with my friend to echo last year we were going somewhere else first but they referred her to dr slater. He was above and beyond the most excellent doctor I've ever encountered he cared so much for his patients the wait time was long but it was worth it. But the staff for working at a doctors office was very judge mental I remember once one of the ladies who lets call her A seen me helping my friend into a chair and then she whispered something to another lady let's call her E and then E looked around the corner and giggled at me like who acts like that?

Obviously not someone I want helping take care of my friend. They have gotten better but that should of never happened in the first place. And then Dr. slater retired and the doctor who replaced him is dr. Changizzadeh people call him dr. Nick but it's not that hard to say changizzadeh. I had high hopes for him he was phenomenal at first but that plummeted fast when my friend had seemingly good news he just told her that he only goes by the bad news.

She was so happy her tumor marker went down and he told her don't celebrate yet because it's still high. And I just thought no duh it's high she has cancer in her intestines and bladder just let her be happy for a little bit don't crush her down. And the one pct or nurse she shouldn't really be either let's call her K soooo disrespectful I once said to her something and she rudely said back "I think you hide it well." I'm disgusted we are looking for other places to go.

Terrible service. people who work there do not have the office organized, results are not provided on time, mistakes occur all the time and the waiting period is way too long.
