I was just released from SMH a few days ago, and I couldn't be happier that I chose this hospital! Aside from one nurse in the ER, each person who attended me was at lease very nice and professional, but the majority of them were fantastic! I'm talking from Housekeeping, Dietary, every rank of nursing personnel, to the doctors, showed concern, kindness, and friendliness, and above all, professionalism.

It's a shame that SMH gets a bad rap, because I can see how the staff is determined to exert maximum effort to do their absolute best job. THANK YOU, to all the imaging techs, to those who transported me to the CT and MRI departments, to the highly skilled nursing staff, Housekeeping staff, and Dietary staff. You made what could have been 2-1/2 days of misery, into a very caring, safe and sanitary, trustworthy experience. May the Lord bless all of you.

My husband had to be admitted for emergency medical care. We have out-of-state Medicaid, which WILL pay our bill as long as SMH is willing to enroll. I called the billing office today and they flatly refused to do so. It seems obvious to me that a MEDICAID patient, of all people, cannot be expected to promptly pay an enormous medical bill and I have NO IDEA why they won't even consider having the bill paid by my INSURANCE.

This is not only a terrible way to deal with a patient experiencing the worst moments of their life, but it also makes NO SENSE financially. If they enroll, the bill will be paid! The staff in the billing office are complicit in this country's terrible medical system if they aren't willing to do the bare minimum to help me pay my bill.

My old review is gone. Avoid this hospital. Dangerous and inept staff. No humanity, just moving future corpses around. You are better off with the book of home remedies even if you are bleeding.

Absolute worst front desk/ customer service ever. Mask nazis in full force. Dr Duffour refused to refill meds my wife has been on for over 10 and 20 yrs respectively, with no warning. She was forced to go off them cold turkey and it completely screws with her endocrine system not to mention her head. They tried to insist she stay in her car for appts and call into the office, persist in calling her and refusing to lower masks to communicate despite knowing she is nearly deaf and lipreads.

She is unable to do phone calls, text or email only. Seriously considering suing them for violations of the ADA. We wouldn't be coming here if we could find another dr. Literally the worst place on the NorthShore you could go for medical help. On a more positive note, Oschner is much much better outfit and we go there when we can.

4/11/2022. The most under staff hospital in St. Tammany Parish. Staff, doctors, nurses in the ER are the rudest most unprofessional people I've ever met. Male nurse, trying to do an IV takes 10 minutes 2 different areas attempted with no results. My daughter in law is winching in pain from him jabbing it in her hand and I ask him to get help and he proceeds to hollar at me and tells me to do it.seriously! So, I ask for help & he try's to act like I'm crazy. Everyone needs to be fired from this hospital & restated.

Went in yesterday for chest pain, difficulty breathing and a fever. Triage and getting through the front desk was fast, HOWEVER actually waiting for a doctor to see me as well as getting discharged took about 4 or 5 hours over all. It was the worst, most uncomfortable experience I've been in especially since I was NOTICABLY sweating due to my fever and weezing/having to catch my breath the whole time (i was literally gasping for air) I was waiting.

Only to be given an inhaler and meds. I totally understand being short staffed or whatever BUT the whole experience was so uncomfortable and horrible I'd probably rather die than go to that ER ever again. Sorry not sorry, yall need to do BETTER. Look at all these reviews.

Every time I come here it gets worse! Had to lay in my own urine for an hour, IN BED! Waited 2 hours for a heat pack. Never got my night meds lastnight after asking 4 times. Every time I had to hit the nurse button as soon as I was finished saying what I needed I got hung up on. The nurses stand out there taking and laughing so loud you can't sleep.

The nurses are beyond rude all the way around! I was across the hall from the supply room and that door didn't stop being slammed the entire 4 days and 3 nights! They didn't even TRY to be quiet! Dr. Melancon is the most rude unprofessional doctor I've dealt with here and that says a LOT! I had ONE nurse that showed she cared and made it easier to cope with being here.

Since Ochsner took over it's been down hill from there. Unfortunately it's our only choice here in Slidell BUT I will definitely drive to another city before I EVER step foot inside another Ochsner ran building!

Hello! In my entire 36 years I've made one bad review to any establishment and this is my send one. I had Chest pain to the point I had to go to the hospital. I could not drive and could not sit without gripping my chest to ease the pain. I won't go into details or bash these heroes but I waited 5 hours in pain in a lobby. I just sucked it up as a man but trust me "I was in serious pain". I stood the entire 5 hours and felt forgotten. Please work on that wait time! Thank you for your service and all that you guys do for us.

Well all I can say is that front desk was nice and triage was fast and check in was a breeze. The Wait to see the actual doctor was more than 5 hours and the wait to be discharged was almost 4 hours this was an awful experience for me I also received the wrong diagnosis that ended up bad for me. At first the nurse claimed they lost my labs blood test and urine sample etc. they finally found them And they suspiciously said I had sucha sucha I said that's impossible because I just tested negative for that yesterday so that's a lie mind you I had no symptoms of that I went there for something else that was far worse with much different kind of symptoms The nurse says " oh the doctor (thinks) you have sucha sucha" yes the bird brain says the doctor thinks " Did he not tell you "?

And I reply no he never said that and I told her that I have a negative test yesterday and she tells me" believe what you want" I reply I sure will The doctor "Chong" finally comes back a half hour later Shakey and nervous acting and eyes were dilated he says in a very nasty attitude " I said what I said and you have this" and then ask me if I had sneezing or runny nose etc.

I said I never had neither of those but he says " yes but I say you still have this " I said well I see I see you are not trying to help me so I want to be discharged now Let me go my way 4 hours after I was finally discharged from hell hole And I went to another er in Nola who diagnosed me properly and diagnosed me with severe dehydration and said my kidneys were being close to being shut down they ran a IV for fluids which smh didn't Please please do not ever go to Slidell memorial hospital they are the extreme worse And for this famous viroz I thought your temperature would be 100 or over running nose sneezing and etc I had had none of these symptoms Liars are getting paid more to diagnose people with a lie Just for your name to go on a national roster as a lie shame on these liars Felt fine hours later no thanks to smh And a big thanks to the hospitals in Nola And you would think that if I did have this famous viroz that I wouldn't fell hours later you lying dummies A malpractice suit is on your butts sooner than later

Waited 3.5 hours to be seen even though my daughter had terrible cough, breathing problems, dizzy and headache. Not except-able to have to wait that long to be seen and not one person would update you.

SMH does a poor job of informing patients of out pocket expenses. On two occassions SMH bills were sent months, and in one case 18 months after a procedure. When you call for an estimate of out of pocket expenses, they can help you. Both of these procedures were non emergency and scheduled with plenty of time to provide an estimate. In the future, if a surgery is needed, I will look to other hospitals.

My experience with Labor and Delivery in January was overall pretty good until discharge. My doctor came in the day before and said I could be discharged the following day if I wanted. I said I wanted to and let my nurses know. I again let them know I would like to be discharged the following morning around 7am. The pediatrician came to check out my baby around 10am, but it took the on call doctor literally all day to get to me.

I was served dinner before the doctor came to check me for discharge. I didn't end up getting discharged until 5pm. Ridiculous. At one point we could hear my nurse telling the doctor we were eager to be discharged so we could get home to our other child. The doctor said, "well, they'll just have to wait. Oh well." I also had one bad nurse experience my last night.

I had informed the nurses on day one that I don't like narcotics and would not be taking them. As a result, when I asked for meds, they would only bring me ibuprofen. On the last night I asked for my meds and a new nurse brought them after shift change. She proceeded to hand me pills without even explaining to me what they were. All of the other nurses told me every time what I was being handed.

So I asked her and she told me one of the pills was a narcotic. I politely told her I've just been taking ibuprofen and she got mad. She got an attitude and told me now she had to go get someone to help her log the pill back into the system. Like, ok lol.

They watched her cry in pain and vomited 12 times in front of them still they didn't see her

Slidell Memorial Hospital demonstratively has incredibly LOW STANDARDS of cleanliness and sanitation. The obvious neglect and lack of standard housekeeping, along with the absence of routine maintenance, such as painting, replacing broken light fixtures, etc., has apparently created unsafe conditions for patients. This hospital's administration is obviously neglectful of the physical facilities, possibly to the point of libelous. Patient's and visitor's health and safety appear compromised due to dirty/unsanitary facilities, with peeling paint (above patient bed), rusted/corroded fixtures, broken florescent light fixtures (bulbs exposed), human hair hanging on fire suppression sprinkler head (above patient bed), discolored/corroded mirror, and broken floor tiles.

As if that were not enough to make you sick, three, yes three different hospital staff doctors came into the room at different times, and all recounted a completely different diagnosis. On one occasion, their staff tried to administer an ultrasound on the wrong patient, and had to be set straight by the patient. Then there was the doctor telling the patient he was concerned about the medications the patient was taking, even though the patient had explicitly told the ER Nurse that they DID NOT take that specific medication.

The cherry on top was a pair of USED rubber gloves left on the end table, next to the patient bed, left there all day. Anyone entering the hospital, mostly those visiting patients in rooms, are greeted by gauntlet of smokers, lined up on both sides of the walkway, directly in front of the entrance (within several feet of the doors). Although there are clearly marked signs, saying "SMOKING ON SMH PROPERTY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED", and security was present in the parking lot, nothing was done about the smoking.

The security guard merely sat in their "Security" vehicle, with the AC on, in clear sight of the smokers, and did nothing. Just look at the pictures of cigarette butts next to the no smoking sign, and you will understand the contradiction. Of course, the cigarette butts only added to the amount of other trash, liter, and debris surrounding dirty glass door entrance.

But don't take my word for it, look at the photos, they speak volumes. The question I have for this hospital's administration, and board of directors, is simply this, how in hell do you pass the JCACH accreditation inspections, or did you? #JCACH

OMG I just can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The doctors are no nonsense. They do what has to be done with the least amount of discomfort. They explain what's going on and what they're going to do. This hospital has everything you need health wise. There is a pediatric clinic, family clinic, cancer Center and much more.

The cancer Center is tops. The staff help you deal with your cancer. They are very understanding. The cafeteria has some really good food reasonably priced. There is a gift shop that has sales throughout the year. Plenty parking This is a great hospital.

After witnessing what my aunt and cousin endured, we will not ever be back. Where is the compassion?! A few years ago when i had my daughter, one thing i can say is my labor and delivery nurse was amazing.beyond that, I'm disgusted with how things were handled with my cousin.

I just spent 2 days here due to a mental health crisis. It sucked. They pretty much just left me in a room all to myself. Anytime I needed anything including water and using the bathroom, I had to ask over and over. They need employees that are more attentive and compassionate to their patients needs. I was glad to get out of there.

This place is awful. Truely terrible and cruel. They were too busy and therefore were treating patients like numbers. I would say I was not even treated like a human being while I was at this terrible place. Save your life go somewhere else

I have to say this is a great place to bring a love one who is sick. Went yesterday and my friends heart wasn't acting right, and she's still there getting the help that she needs. The take wonderful care of u. The ER wasn't a crazy wait like I thought it would be. We were in the back in no time. The place is so clean and friendly. Thanks for being so thoughtful.

The ER was unprofessional and rude. Walked into the ER, covered in my 3 yo's blood, holding him as he screamed in pain. He had fallen, hit his head, and had a laceration on his eye, down to the bone. The woman at the desk told me, after moving at a snails pace with the woman ahead of us, before even getting our information, "just so you know, it'll be a while.

He has quite a few people ahead of him". Confused and hysterical I asked why she was telling me this & she preceded to repeat herself, in an uninterested monotone voice, and still hadn't gotten our information. Not a single other person in that room was bleeding or screaming. I asked again why she was telling me this. she just stared at me, looked around the room, and finally asked for his information.

Then AGAIN said "they won't be able to take him for quite a while". the woman next to us was seen for "headaches" 3 hours before we were seen. Several hours later, he was taken back. the dr, as nice as he was, kept telling me he only needed dermabond. I asked him several times to please recheck it and if he truly believed that it didn't need stitches. finally, the nurse opened it up and said "she's right.

This looks pretty deep". Finally, he actually looked at it and agreed. Then! One unnecessary and dangerous CT & 2 stitches later, the dr brings us whay he believed to be my son's CT results. He kept telling us they were normal. Turned out, they weren't my son's results! My husband points it out that the first name was the same but that was it.

The dr says "oh! Well, his are normal too. Must've grabbed the wrong ones". He walked out and we were discharged by a nurse, not seeing him again & never receiving our son's results. This was the absolute worst careI could imagine. I do not recommend this ER to anyone with an actual emergency. Had I not been shaking uncontrollably, and he not been bleeding so badly, I would have driven him back across the twin span, to Tulane-Lakeside, by our house.

Wife had terrible stomach pains. We went to the ER and they did the necessary tests and were quick and very considerate. They checked her in and Dr. Francis Petitto ultimately did gallbladder surgery on her the following day. He was extremely professional and was very easy to deal with. We were visiting the are on vacation and he was very sympathetic.

The nurse, Flavia, located on med-surgical 1200 was the nicest person ever; So caring and professional and made this difficult experience much more manageable. The hospital was easy to navigate and the people were nice.

Modern facility, helpful staff, hard to find fault here. Not the most modern place maybe. I'd come back, if I had to of course. Parking can be spotty, but overall decent. Hope you don't have to go to hospital, but if you do, be confident with SMH.

Slidell Memorial Hospital on Gause Blvd. pleasantly surprised me. They have a quick turn over rate, they don't try to keep patients there unnecessarily. The staff are amazing and caring. This is also one of the first hospitals that I have been to that has good food in the cafeteria. The patients also get good, tasty food. If you have a choice, this is the hospital to be at.
