We strive to provide the best possible care and service for our patients. Please leave a review to let us know how we are doing and to share your experience with others. Dr Alpa Patel recently performed my surgery to remove cataracts in both eyes. I chose to have AcrySof Vivity IOL's implanted to correct serious nearsightedness.
A cataract is a gradually clouding of the lens in our eye. This occurs with aging as UV rays from the sun oxidize the naturally clear lens with which we are born. As our lens becomes increasingly cloudy, our vision becomes increasingly blurry, and at some point our visual symptoms will be severe enough that the cataractous lens will have to be removed from our eye. This is done in an out-patient surgical setting where an eye surgeon will remove the cataractous lens and replace it with an artificial lens.
As we age, several changes occur in our eyelids. The thin skin of our eyelids stretches and becomes more redundant, resulting in excess folds of skin that may actually hang down over the edge of the upper eyelids. This condition is called dermatochalasis. The muscles beneath the skin also grow weaker, allowing fat to protrude through and cause "bags", which are particularly noticeable in the lower eyelids.

My Parents in Law visit here for Eye care. once you become their customer, Accounting department schedules appointment automatically and charges "No Show". when i called, they removed those charges at first time, after that, i received 2 other charges with same categary. i am tired of calling them for their mistakes. My parents in law are travelling internation for 6month so no one schedules appointment but their system still schedule appointments automatically and send me charges with "no show" title.

Doctors are excellent. The front office needs improvement. Tried to make me pay again so that they could fix my incorrect prescription. Initially said my prescription was only good for six months then looked forever for a mythical company policy.

I'm 70 year old male, had cataract surgery on left eye in March and right eye in April, PanOptix lenses inserted by Dr. Patel, I'm now able to see near, mid and far distances without glasses, I am extremely pleased with the results, I now enjoy my outdoor activities without the burden of glasses, I'm so thankful to God and Dr. Patel for the Fantastic results!

Very mediocre. They dilated my eyes without warning in advance, offered to give me sunglasses, and then rushed me out of the office without the promised sunglasses I couldn't see my way out of the building, let alone drive myself home due to the blurred vision. Wish I would've looked up the ratings of this place before making anappointment. Always do your research when It comes to medical care.

Just some constructive criticism (I hope they read this). your receptionists need to be more helpful and understanding with people that haven't worn glasses their whole lives. that goes for terminology used and more importantly, insurance coverage. I had to pay for my exam upfront because the receptionist didn't want to spend 30 seconds verifying my coverage.

I tried to explain that my insurance might cover it and tried to provide my insurance card. I wasn't sure if I even had vision coverage as I've never needed to use it before. I was told that providing it wouldn't help. that they'd have to look me up on various websites or something, but they didn't even try. so I paid $65 for the exam. at the end, I was given a prescription, verifying to me that I do now need reading glasses. so right there in the lobby, they do have a shop to buy glasses. a different person helped me there. once again I explained that my insurance might cover the cost of the glasses. this time, this person actually took 30 seconds to find out, and sure enough, I'm covered for the glasses AND the exam that I already paid for. of course I mentioned this to the person who was too lazy to perform this basic search.

I was refunded, but come on. again, for people that already wear glasses and understand everything, this place is probably fine. But for newbies like me, who only later in life realize they need glasses, their receptionists need to be more helpful.

Dr. Prendiville and his wonderful crew at South Coast Eye Care Center are just the best. Two cataract surgeries, performed with precision and care, and follow up treatments are handled with friendliness and warmth. Highly recommend this group and definitely, Dr. Prendiville.

The staff was nice enough, but I was there for almost two hours, and that's without a vision exam. It felt like a cattle herding type place. The exam was broken down into parts with different technicians, with a 10-15 minute wait in between, and about a 30 minute wait while my eyes dilated. So when I finally got to see Dr. Tai, she spoke with me for less than five minutes.

When I entered the room, it was really odd as she sat with her back to me. Then after she told me what I needed to know, she turned her back to me again while I awkwardly exited the room. They referred me to a specialist and it took me over two months to schedule that appointment, because the specialist's office told me the authorization needed some corrections and it took them six calls over to South Coast before they finally got it done. (of course, that could have just been a finger pointing, but after my experience I'm inclined to believe it)

Very nice staff member and convenient location. I had a routine eye exam here with Dr. Audrey Tai. She is very thorough and caring. I am so glad that I've found Dr. Tai as my eye doctor.
