For patients with cervical disc disease, a number of factors affect the decision as to whether a discectomy and fusion or a disc replacement will be the best treatment. Factors may include but are not limited to the patient's overall health and physical condition, the extent and location of symptoms of the disc disease, and the overall health of surrounding vertebrae and the rest of the spine. Our providers evaluates each patient carefully and confers with the primary care physician to determine the best treatment.
Herniated (protruding) discs of the lumbar (lower back) vertebrae can put pressure on nerves, often causing pain in the back and legs. Surgery may be recommended for patients who have experienced pain for an extended periods of time and have not responded to nonsurgical treatments. In many cases, the condition can be treated successfully by removing only the herniated portion of the disc. Our providers use a minimally invasive technique that enables the disc to be accessed and removed through a small incision in the back.
Please make sure to bring your photo ID, insurance card(s), and any Workers' Compensation case or No Fault carrier/accident information (if applicable) on your first visit and when you are seen for a new problem if you are an existing patient. Bring any previous diagnostic testing if applicable such as MRI's or X-Rays films or CD's, CT Scans, EMG's that will aid the physician during the evaluation process.

When the sugery performed for a herniated disk resulted in more pain than before, her partner mysteriously left the group. According to O'Shea she didn't know where he was practicing. It took 5 minutes on the internet to find his new office in PA. As far as still being in pain and wanting to continue being treated, I was told to seek pain management from RelieveUS.

A pill pushing pain management clinic. I wonder why another reviewer says she's been treated for 7 or 8 years by O'Shea. She certainly hasn't done any healing. O'Shea and her "practice" is a scam.

I had 3 bulging and herniated discs in my neck from a mva I saw Dr. O'Shea and she didn't even mention other options surgery wise.she just instantly brought up fusing my neck and saying I was too young for the surgery and was more worried about a tooth in my mouth. Just brushed me off like there weren't other options for my neck. 2 doctors later and my neck has 2 replacement discs and is fused and I'm still getting a bill from her office that my insurance has paid. Find a doctor who actually cares about your situation unlike Dr. O'Shea. I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone.

This office needs to find someone who cares about their patients as Dr. Bussey did. For a person to walk out of the office and have their concern daughter call the office immediately to have a couple of questions answered, and be told by the answering service it's not an emergency is unacceptable. Then the service hung up on me and when I insisted on speaking to a supervisor she said there wasn't anything she could do to contact the dr. After stating my point, she went and spoke to the Dr who said if he can't make it in forget it.what doctor would say that.unbelievable!

I would NEVER recommend Joan O'Shea to anyone. I went to her with a herniation in my neck and was suffering from extreme pain. She told me the only reason that I was in any pain was because I was F A T.

I've been a patient of Dr O'She for the past 7or 8 years and I can truly say that she is one of the best, not only is she sophisticated she really cares about her patients and she has really been a true Blessing in life because the pain I've been in since 2002 and out of all the Dr's I've seen she's the only one that really listened to me and gave me the help I so desperately needed and eased my pain, I would recommend her to anyone. So here's to you Dr. O'Shea and thank you so very much for all you've done for me over the yrs. D. Blackwell formerly Afifi

Dr. Bussey operated on me, he put a Boston Scientific Neuro Stimulator in me. After a few days I knew something wasn't right. I called the Reps from Boston Scientific, they said they would meet me at Dr. Bussey's office on my follow up visit in 3 weeks. By that time I was ready to rip the leads out of my the right side of my back and spine, plus the metal plate in my spine and the battery pack also. Me, my family and doctors could see the battery pack, leads and metal plate protruding thru my skin.

I BEGGED HIM TO TAKE IT OUT, I told him it was killing me and felt like it was electricuting me when I turned it on. HE SAID NO. It took me 3 months of being in excruciating pain, and I still am, before he took it out. He was very humble when he agreed to to take it out, not a "I'm Better Then Everyone" Dr. So he screwed up with the operation and I get to live my life not being able to live a normal life ever again. I'll be seening Dr after Dr and hope I find one that will be able to undo whatever DR. BUSSEY DID TO MY INSIDES. He should not be a surgeon! God help me.
