The practice which gave birth to Southdale ObGyn was founded in the early 1950s when Dr. William B. Stromme, a Minnesota native, returned to Minneapolis from New York City, where he had been serving on the faculty of Cornell University Medical College. With offices initially in the Medical Arts Building, Dr. Stromme's principal hospital affiliations were in downtown Minneapolis with Fairview (now Fairview University) and Northwestern (now Abbott- Northwestern). In 1965, the group was among the first to expand their practice to Fairview Southdale in Edina and, in 1984, to Fairview Ridges in Burnsville.
Our Mission is to promote excellence in the delivery of patient care, while striving to inspire honesty, trust and respect in our relationships with patients, staff and colleagues. Our Vision is to be advocates for our patients, while fostering a healthy, rewarding workplace. It is our desire to maintain an independent and innovative medical practice which is adaptive to the changing health care environments.
Our providers commitment to our patients and the practice is evident in the many earned awards, certifications and distinctions. Our Ultrasound Department has been certified by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) since 2007. This assures that the performance and interpretation of ultrasounds performed in our practice exceeds nationally accepted standards.
Because Southdale ObGyn is a full-service clinic with two locations dedicated to caring for women at all stages of life, we occasionally have open positions. To submit resumes, please email our office here.

Dr Almadale is kind and has a very positive vibe. I briefly met her before and after my c section as she was the on call doctor that day. I met her again in my 6 week pp appointment during which she patiently listened to all our questions and concerns. I highly recommend Dr Meshke and Dr Almadale, both are AMAZING!

The doctors & nurses here are great, I do genuinely think they are caring & considerate but I somehow did consistently have a new problem every appointment I attended, at one point I really felt like something was wrong with me. once I switched clinics at 28 weeks I knew it was the best decision especially because fairview southdale is also hands down the worst hospital I have ever been in, the staff is horrible there and do not care one bit so that's one thing to consider since OBGYN southdale is partnered obviously with fairview - but the staff I genuinely think is very rude, they are a huge reason why I felt like I needed to leave the clinic. They also gossip a lot & talk very loud as if they whole room can't hear them.

I'm not sure where to even begin. I'll start with the fact that there seems to always be a lack of communication between staff therefore resulting in constantly something going wrong whenever I visited. It was never a smooth enjoyable process coming to my appointments, receptionist never knew why I was there, nurses would forget to do what the doctor said they were gonna do, and the doctors seemed very un-interested and never answered any of my questions or concerns.

This is my first pregnancy and I am new to everything so I have a lot concerns and questions so being dismissed really made it known that we weren't being taken seriously. My fiance and I came here because we were told good things about the staff and unfortunately we just never were able to experience that. I will say that we didn't stick with just one doctor or midwife we were introduced to several on both ends and less than a handful of them seemed personable or like if they truly cared for us.

If you are going to this office about fertility questions, don't. I was given a packet about different tests and told to call back a certain intervals for tests. No description of what the tests were for or what they'd show.just a big blue folder. I waited 30 minutes after the appointment was supposed to start for the provider to spend 15 minutes with me of the 45 that the appointment was supposed to be. The visit felt rushed and disingenuine. Very disappointed.

Nicole Deshong, CNM, part of the Southdale OBGYN team of providers, is caring and compassionate. She really takes the time to listen and get to know her patients.

I love Southdale OBGYN. I have been going here since I was 16 for my annual exams. Nikki Dishong, CNM is so great! She is personable, kind, and takes time to explain a things. I also enjoy how you can schedule your appointment on the patient portal. They will send you text reminders and a link to sign in for your appointment before you even get there! Overall, I definitely recommend Southdale OBGYN!

Dr. Lewis showed so much empathy and compassion for my husband and I as we went through our pregnancy loss. She was kind and thoughtful and went the extra mile to answer all of our questions. She kept in touch with us and called to check in on me after my procedure. I would recommend her to anyone.

I absolutely love Southdale OBGYN-Edina. The experience is warm and welcoming the moment you walk through the door (from the ladies at the front desk, medical assistants, ultrasound techs, and of course my AMAZING midwife Nikki D.) This is my first pregnancy and Nikki has made this such a beautiful experience for me. She makes me feel very comfortable and she listens to my concerns. Nikki is so sweet, I definitely plan on her being my provider again if I'm fortunate to have baby #2.

So happy I found Southdale ObGyn in Edina! They have been amazing every step of my pregnancy. I've mainly been seen by Nikki Dishong, who is so personable and caring - I really can't say enough good things about her but all the healthcare professionals I've worked with have been great! I've felt very comfortable and cared for here. Can't thank Nikki & the rest of this team enough!

I had a terrific experience! The nurse was very friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Meschke is fantastic! She provides such great, thorough care with a wonderful personable style. I wouldn't hesitate to see her again!

I went to this clinic throughout my second pregnancy including delivery. The delivery of my first child was very traumatic and this clinic worked to ease my anxiety and the birth of my second child was calm and comfortable. Dr. Harris delivered my daughter and I just saw her again after two years and she remembered me and was extremely kind. I have seen many of the providers in the clinic and they are all excellent, as well as the nursing staff and front desk.

I would give negative stars if I could! Go anywhere else. The level of communication here is an absolute joke. They will cancel appointments on you with no explanation that have been scheduled for weeks. I had to switch practices halfway through my pregnancy and honestly waited too long.

Do not go here. This is the most mis-managed doctors office ever. Will send you bills when you've already paid them. Will not give you proper instructions after a procedure and then think saying "I'm sorry!" makes it all better. Oh and want a prescription sent to your pharmacy? You'll probably have to call them at least 4 times to get them to actually do it. No exaggerations necessary. I avoid this place like the plague now.
