Our medical group was first established in 1955 by Thomas H. Moseley, Sr., M.D. Today, our practice includes six quality-trained physicians, five nurse midwives, and two nurse practitioners. The team at Southern OB/GYN prides itself on providing care rooted in core family values, with a passion and vision to bring the latest in technological advancements to the region.
We take pride in detecting medical problems early and providing a comprehensive line of the most advanced treatments for a wide range of gynecologic conditions. From contraception to menopause, we thoroughly discuss all of the options to help you make the best decisions to meet your individual needs. To maintain your overall health, we encourage our patients to have annual exams for proper screening and evaluation.
Women should be prepared to discuss their family medical history and be ready for questions about their menstrual cycle. The pelvic exam, which includes a pap smear, only lasts a few minutes and the exam itself doesn't hurt. Your doctor will explain the process before beginning the exam. Your doctor will typically begin the annual exam with a breast exam to check for lumps that may be a sign of cancer. Your physician will then check the external genital area for irritations, cysts or other problems.
Birth control, also known as contraception, is any method used to prevent pregnancy. Choosing birth control is a personal choice, and it is important to learn as much as you can about the various methods - both hormonal and non-hormonal. Each has advantages and disadvantages, including effectiveness, side effects and health risks.

This is the worst OBGYN I have been to in my entire life, I had the worst care, they put me in the hospital for 6days for them to mistreat me & my unborn child, my child's heart rate dropped all the way down to 115bpm, but when i arrived at the hospital his heart rate was in the 160's, and because I left the hospital the doctors at Souther OBGY said they had an Unanimous vote to not see me in there doctors office any more, but then put on paper that it was my decision to leave.

I was not going to return here after they almost killed me and my unborn in the hospital under their care. They also put on paper that I can't go back to work because I don't want to be seen by them, even though it was an Unanimous vote for me not to come back there by the doctors in that office, how exactly does that make sense?. It sounds like that place should be shut down and lawyers should be involved.

If I don't want your care because your care was not Genuine, then it shouldn't matter if I don't want to be seen by any of your doctors. You can not choose for me it is my right to pick the BEST OBGYN for me and my unborn child. But thanks for your time.

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST OBGYN IVE BEEN TOO. GINA DUNCAN WAS MY FAVORITE, AND SHE SEEMED TO ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE FOR MY APPOINTMENTS AND SHE LISTENED AND UNDERSTOOD ME. I DID NOT FEEL RUSHED. DR. SWINDLE WAS THERE FOR ME AND HE HAS BEEN A GREAT ENCOURAGMENT FOR ME WHILE WORKING WITH MY NEEDS. I NOW SEE A MIDWIFE TERESA JOHNSON AND SHE IS JUST THE BEST. SHE INTERACTS WITH ME, SHE OPENED UP AND GOT TO KNOW US AND WE KNOW HER AS WELL. EVERYTHING AND EVERY VISIT IS ALWASY A BREEZE.

Dr. Culbreth is the best! He was my doctor through both of my pregnancies and deliveries, and I am so thankful for him. He took time to answer any questions I had and made sure I was comfortable through my pregnancies and deliveries. I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor. You won't find better doctor.

First of all, I could not see my regular doctor today. I understood that sometimes that can't happen so I saw someone else. I had an extra long wait time today to get seen. I excused that as well. However, I was told my prescription would be called in this morning and it's 4:30 pm and my prescription was never called in. Your office is closed now and is closed over the weekend, and you offer patients no way of contacting you about prescriptions after hours. It is not a good feeling to be forgotten about when you need medical care.

I met Dr. Culbreth in October when I had some severe pain. The doctor I had been using for 15 years had left so I saw Dr. Culbreth that day. He immediately sent me to the hospital, with that decision he saved my life. Now that I went for my annual he remembered me and continued with great professionalism and deep concern for my health.

Southern OB/GYN is the best. I came to get an over all exam. I had my first pap and the Doctor I had Paula, was the sweetest and told me what she was going to do before she did anything. I felt comfortable and reassured that everything would be okay. Patti at the check out desk was so helpful on the phone scheduling my appointment and after my appointment as well. Very sweet lady's at this clinic, I'm very thankful for them. I got in and out in no time. Thank you Southern OB/GYN, I will be back

This place has been the worst experience I have had with a OB Office this is my first pregnancy. They have neglected my needs, embarrassed me and have inconvenienced me every visit I have made there. I have not had the pleasurable experience like the rest of these people are saying they have. I have seen my doctor all of 3 minutes I have waited close to 5 hours the last 3 appointments I've made.

No straightforward answers to my questions, couldn't even send over the correct permission form to see the dentist, they prescribed me only 2 days worth of meds that I needed a months worth of, and their solution to me having a loose stool since the start of my pregnancy was to give me expired prenatals. Just cleaning out cabinets I guess! Not only have they broken HIPAA by making me take a stool sample in the front lobby restroom and carry it in front of the women in the lobby, and telling me I can just walk it to the back myself. Today has been my last time dealing with them. Absolutely dissatisfied

If anyone is in the market for a midwife, Liz Burling is amazing! She is so sweet, caring, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable in her field, as she was a labor and delivery nurse for years before getting her advanced degree. I don't know how I would have made it through labor without her encouragement. She also personally called to check on me a few months after having my baby and I can't even explain how much that meant to me. It was an act that most doctors would never even think of doing. You won't find any better than Liz in my opinion!

Terrifying, they could have been responsible for me not being able to successfully have children due to negligence with recommending and providing access to a rhogam shot after 2 miscarriages and being A-. The first time they never even mentioned it and I only found out I should have gotten from a friend who was a nurse and it after it was too late.

The second time, I still had to directly ask about it and the nurse said "I don't know I'll ask the Doctor Monday" I pointed out that this was 2 days out of the 72 HR window so it wouldn't do me any good and she stated "well he's already left for the day so I'll call you Monday" I replied that they had promised to call first thing in the morning and I attempted to call before then so it wasn't my fault.thankfully I had the sense to get a second opinion and was told to go to the ER to get basic care of a rhogam shot.

Thank god I was lucky enough to not be sensitized but they could have messed up my future chances of a healthy pregnancy and certainly cost me an unnecessary ER charge for something that is standard practice.

Worst OBGYN i have ever been to in my life and I a so thankful I have moved and found one way better. Multiply times I was left waiting for over 3 hours for simple visits. One visit I had was for a glucose test and a check up, i was stuck waiting for 4 hours and then they told me they forgot to do my glucose test so I would have to be there for another hour and a half. Asking questions was never really an option the doctors did not seem to care at all about my questions and concerns.

Being 30 weeks pregnant i was having horrible nausea and heartburn, I simply asked what I could do to help with it and I was told by a doctor "Well, welcome to pregnancy" and that was it. I would never recommend this OB to anyone. I recommend you go anywhere else but here. I will say the women at the front desk and the women who take your vitals are the kindest women.
