Southwest Health is a growing not-for-profit community health care provider offering patient-centered personal care to residents of southwest Wisconsin and beyond. From our three facilities (hospital and Southwest Behavior Services campuses in Platteville and Cuba City), our health care team provides a wide range of acute care hospital services, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, memory care, behavioral and mental health services, and physician clinics.

Hospital services include emergency and urgent care, primary care clinics, women's health (including gynecology, a family birthing center, and obstetrics), orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, sports performance services, general surgical services, diagnostic lab testing, imaging services (including x-ray, CT, MRI, bone density, stress testing and more), rehabilitation services (physical, occupational, and speech therapies), a sleep study lab, and a wide range of specialty care, including neurology, pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, EEG, cardiology, urology, gastroenterology, orthopedic surgery, and pain management.
Services
The 25-bed hospital served southwest Wisconsin until 1950 when Platteville Municipal Hospital opened. A nursing home wing was added seven years later and an Obstetrics unit and Administration wing were added in 1963. By the late 1970s, it became increasingly difficult for the organization to invest in facility infrastructure.

Billing Dept. will not return any phone calls when you call the number on the bill requesting assistance or information pertaining to your bill. Several messages later with no return phone call is a nightmare! For this reason, we will no longer go to Southwest Health for any future medical needs. It is not worth the hassle.

Dr. Sloan is the worst Dr. ever. I went in because I was vomiting to the point where I couldn't breathe. They discharged me while I was still vomiting and told me I was just hung over. They had my blood, and could tell there was no alcohol in it. Go to any other hospital before this one

If you have any other options, please go elsewhere. I have been deceived not once, but twice by this hospital. I take full responsibility for going back, however I had zero issues with my insurance in the ER department and they were AMAZING! They were efficient, fast, and listened to my concerns. This hospital is terrible everywhere else however. In the imaging department, a women was very rude, and upon not being able to remove one of my piercings (due to being stuck not because I would not take it out) she become very short and judgmental and began not taking me seriously.

Upon another visit, I was given a provider who DID NOT take my insurance and I was never notified even after SPECIFICALLY ASKING for a provider with my insurance. Their prices are ridiculous, the staff in certain departments are rude, and providers do not take your concerns seriously. I have been seen numerous times over more than six months for the SAME THING and nothing has been fixed. If you have any other options, save yourself some time and money and go elsewhere. Lesson learned.

Extremely overpriced. Had to do a price match with the other upland hills in dodgeville Wisconsin. And found that they price things double of what that hospital does. Once I showed them the price match they lowered the price

Staff is amazing at SWH. Every single one of them are caring, and compassionate. Patients feel like family. The skillset is top-notch and the food is like a home cooked wholesome meal.

The clinic has the worse staff, especially the nurses and doctors! The nurse was rude my entire visit, she kept harassing me about getting my weight when I said I'd rather not take it that day, and I know 100% that a patient has the right to refuse having their weight taken. I've physically have heard other patients say it and I've taken family to their appointments who have also refused to have their weight taken, and the nurses are always okay with it and don't give it a second thought. Then, when we were in the doctor's office she got even more rude to the point where I asked if I could just leave. IM NEVER GOING TO THIS CLINIC EVER AGAIN!

Hospital is pretty, Physicians and nursing staff were friendly and competent but system lacks coordinated medical care. Discharge planning/ patient advocacy/social work definitely sub par, unprofessional, and basically incompetent. Who ever heard of a rude patient advocate? Go here and see a great example. Will definitely warn others away from this hospital.

The medical staff have been very good, the EDGE and running clinic are worth every penny. However, their rates for PT are sky high and their billing department is the worst we have ever experienced (Upland Hills, Gunderson, and Mineral Point Medical have been great). My son does follow ups there every 6 months and we have actually had a follow up while still getting bills from the previous follow up (6 months ago).

When you try to get them paid you get treated like you are a bad account or insurance gets blamed but we already got the explanation of benefits months before. We have been happy with the medical care but the billing department is beyond atrocious. It's no wonder the cost of care is so high when you are not getting paid for 6 months.

I have had the same doctor since the day I was born, and I absolutely love that I was able to have the same doctor who delivered me, also deliver my daughter. Having an attentive and caring doctor for your child is so important to a parent, and so I felt comfort in knowing my daughter's doctor would be the same one I have trusted for all of these years. Can't express enough how great it is to be able to depend on his care for the most precious person in my life - my child. Thanks Southwest Health!
