At Spinak Medical Eye Center, we understand that you need to know if insurance will cover your visit or procedures. We'll work with you to get the most coverage possible under the various plans. Please understand however that insurance plans change and we are not always advised of these changes. Please note that LASIK is considered an elective procedure and is not covered by insurance.
If it's your first visit or a yearly exam, please allow extra time as the doctors will perform a comprehensive exam that involves testing and perhaps dilation. Please allow at least 2 hours. Follow up exams do not normally require as much time as initial visits. We wish we could assure you that you wouldn't have to wait, but our eye doctors want to give the best care possible to our patients. To do so, we spend time listening to our patients and answering their questions. Sometimes, this causes wait room times to increase.
The board certified ophthalmologists at the Spinak Medical Eye Center carefully check the eye and consider a patient's overall medical history when evaluating dry eye. Spinak Medical Eye Center is employing advanced technology for evaluating dry eye disease. Ask one of our staff members about the TearLab test for dry eyes.
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve. While there are different types of glaucoma with varying characteristics, it is usually diagnosed when someone has a combination of high eye pressure and damage to the optic nerve. It can lead to loss of peripheral vision, and if untreated, blindness. To properly evaluate a patient for glaucoma, the board certified ophthalmologists at Spinak Medical Eye Center will check a number of things including eye pressure. The optic nerve is examined when the eyes are dilated or it can be evaluated with a special scan called an OCT.

My uncle with medical issues has been waiting for over two months for his glasses he spent almost $1000 for. Anytime he or a family member calls they get a runaround about why they're delayed. Apparently the glasses broke while the lens was being installed. No callbacks as promised and no sense of urgency.

Wait time is too long here even with an appointment made in advance months ago.

CityMD Nanuet sent to this location due to the painful infection in my right eye. I'm also extremely sick with sore throat. This was the alternative to ER. They indicated that this place was ready to accept me right away. I'm now waiting over an hour and a half and still have yet to see the doctor. And one of the assistant (I think her name was Kim) just asked me to sit back at the waiting area because they have another patient, and I'm just a walk-in. I should have just gone to ER. It would have been faster and probably less rude.
