One of the older receptionist at the front desk of the "'Medical Mall Building" is rude and unhelpful. It is not back-breaking to be kind and direct someone to the appropriate area. Instead, I was treated as if I was asinine for seeking assistance. Although I did state my doctor's correct name. I assume she did not know who I was referring to, and instead of admitting to her own faults, she proceeded to berate me for not using his middle name as his first (?). Maybe it was a tough morning, or maybe that's the usual, but it takes roughly 5% effort to smile and point!

I had to visit the ER on Friday night. I have dealt with St. Dom in the past and always had great experiences, which is why I chose this hospital. Upon check-in, I was hopeful as I saw the triage nurse within 30 minutes of arriving. After that, we were told to go back into the waiting room, where we sat for 5 more hours. During this wait, I was throwing up and passed out on the ER waiting room floors.

My husband asked for help and no one offered anything but a bag for me to puke in. He expressed my need to be seen and all they said was they didn't have a room. We were finally called back about 2 hours after my fainting episode and placed in a room. They got my IV started and I was given meds for pain and nausea. The doctor ordered a CT and an US. Sometime during all this time frame (between the hours of 1 am and 630 am), the woman with the rolling office came in asking for payment.

I don't mind paying, but really, St. D? You left me in the waiting room on the floor and then want to ask me for money while I'm medicated. You can do better. After my test results were read and the doctor decided to discharge me, we were left in the room another 2.5 hours. We were told at 630 we could be discharged, and at 845ish I needed to go to the restroom, and my husband went to ask for help because I was still hooked up to IV and BP monitors.

He rounded the corner to find several nurses standing around chatting and when he asked them for help, the doctor yelled out, "Oh yeah, I discharged her 2 hours ago. Y'all can go!" My husband was also told he could take me to the bathroom around the corner. I was too sick to care at the time what was going on, however, the more I have thought about this situation, the more aggravated I get.

My ER room stretcher didn't have a pillow or blanket upon arrival, nor was it offered. Had I not brought my own, I wouldn't have had one. My trips down the hallway I observed nurses sitting in their chairs at computers not really doing what ER nurses do. There wasn't chaos in that department like you often see in ERs. I am going to receive a hefty bill from St. D here soon, and I feel like the care I received was extremely poor. To say I was disappointed is an understatement and I doubt seriously if I ever use St. D's ER again.

My husband was referred to Jackson Pulmonary. The only information we had was an address: 971 Lakewood Drive, Ste 1052. We reached the general area/destination and then were quickly overwhelmed by the maze of little roads, lack of readable signage, and multiple buildings. Vehicles had been left in an entry, which was completely blocked. Eventually help from several passing employees led us to a parking area under 'West Tower.' We are DREADING next week's appointment with Radiology in the main hospital.

There are NO useful instructions online for the best place to park--there are various lots and parking garages, but unless you already know where to go, you do not have the luxury of stopping to study the color-codes or (limited) signage. Horrible website; if you click Directions, the page cannot be found.

This hospital is a disgusting DISGRACE! My aunt came to this place against her better judgement and i whole heartedly believe they aided in her passing! They didnt want visitors because they knew they werent doing the right thing. My aunt was covered damn near head to toe with bed sores from not being turned properly. What kind of "nurses" and "doctors" do you all have staffing this piece of trash dump of a hospital.

While attending UAB my aunt was getting cared for with love and regards to her wellbeing. At st dominic she CODED and the family was not made aware until the next day when we walked in and had to ASK! If you want your loved one to die.bring them here. NO EXCUSE.

I went to pre surgery clearance today and felt so unwanted and after waiting 2 hours to be seen. I wasn't told before I started signing my consent forms that I had to pay and then I was pushed back in the lobby to wait again because the financial counselor didn't want to be bothered and they still demanded me to pay money before I could have surgery and after I decided to pay I didn't get a thank you nor an I'm sorry for the wait.

All I got was.this is our policy now and if you don't pay you need to reschedule your surgery. I might as well have been on public assistance for the treatment I received today and paying 500 plus dollars.

Never in my life have I felt unsafe at a hospital. I came in appendicitis and instead of even looking at me, I was asked to wait by the curb because the waiting room was too full. We are in a pandemic and they had people packed with sardines. Once I was taken in a room, I was told I had a sever health issue, and that was it. I spent more than twice the time talking about payment than I did to an actual doctor.

Once I was admitted, there would be stretches of upwards 2 hours with no contact from a medical professional. I had my procedure done and I feel great, but the complete lack of treatment they offer patients without the patients having to beg for staff's attention is sad.

We had to go to ER Thursday night, we're admitted, but no room was available til next morning. We were seen in a timely manner. Most staff were warm and efficient. Our 7 PM til 7 AM RN, Neil, was awesome! The new ER is really nice. Dr. Aron saw us quickly and was nice. I would have easily given 5 stars, but at 2 AM a woman with a rolling business station came into our ER room wanting to know how we wanted to pay the Medicare co-pay.

I am a retired RN and my husband is a pharmacist. I have never seen anything like it! I wondered if she checked the severity of the patient before doing this. There needs to be a different way to handle this! This immediately says we don't care for you as a patient, but want to get our money. I know payment is important, but give me a break. Going into an ER room at 2 AM! Come up with a different plan!

My daughter along with many others in the ED have waited patiently 9- 11 plus hours to be taken back for service as we watched the clock continue to click. I favored St D over a lot of this state's medical facilities but after this experience I must change my appreciation as well as outlook. There were a few staff that showed concerned while others merely exemplified that a paycheck is their only motive. Please do better at caring for people and the services you render.

I have been sitting in the emergency room with my 72 year old mother for almost 8 hours. Her doctor told her to go to the ER. But she has still not been seen. The staff are rude, and not taking care of people. Staff down the hallways are on cell phones doing absolutely nothing. This is absolutely ridiculous. I will never bring any of my family members to this hospital. It's sad that people cheer like they won the lottery when their name is called.

I had surgery at St Dominic in December. They made the registration process simple and straightforward. I had to be at the hospital at 600 am and I'd say by 630 I was in a room with vitals done and having my IV started. Surgery itself went well (Dr Yelverton is amazing and very good at what he does), I did have to stay in the hospital for one night post op but even that experience was good.

The nurses and nurse assistants were kind and helpful. The thing is I knew going into this I wasn't checking into a 5 star resort. It's a hospital, in the midst of a pandemic and nursing shortage. But I never felt uncared for or neglected in the least. Everyone from the Chaplin that prayed for me prior to surgery, the OR staff, anesthesiologist, surgeon, nurses, CNAs, house keeping, food servers etc were polite and friendly. They want you to get better and you can tell. So all in all this was a good experience. Thank you St Dominic for helping me truly feel better!

I used to love St. Dominics so most of my doctors are there. But today has been absolutely ridiculous! I had an appointment to get my second Prolia shot at 10:00. I got there at 9:40. I went to check in at a very small waiting area that was full of people. I was told that I would have to go to Admissions and they handed me my file. Went to Admissions to get in a line of 12 people.

Then go stand up and wait for them to call my name. There were about 20 people in that little waiting room. Finally got out of there only to go back to the super small area that I went to when I first arrived only to stand in line again. There was no social distancing in this tiny area and there were 5 people standing in the hallway. I am now in the area to get my shot and it is now 11:15 and still have not gotten my shot!.

Just got my shot which took 2 seconds and I can finally leave! Remember, I was only there to get a shot! Went to Admissions as I was instructed to do. The line to check in at Admissions was stretched all the way scross

This location has released my grandfather with no information, no future steps, and his foot is still in very bad shape. I am highly disappointed in how our visit went and every chance I get I am going to make sure everyone I see understands that if they have a chance to visit a different hospital to do so. My grandmother called up there after getting information from a nurse practitioner named brandy saying he was ok to be released and when she finally got ahold of his nurse she had no idea who a girl named brandy was and no release forms for him. I really hope y'all take further steps to guarantee a better experience for other people. This will not be the last thing I write towards this hospital. -Dalton perry

Now that Franciscan Ministries purchased St. D my experience is St. D quality has gone down significantly. Examples. Twice I have experienced intake processes that took over 5 hours for actual clinical tests that took less than 30 mins. Also obvious is the lack of staff both nurses and CNAs. After a two day stay in the facility nearly all staff complained of these two things 1) Franciscan Ministries only cares about the money. 2) no one wants to work there because pay is low yet staff perception is Administration always gets a raise. (Could not validate that).

I did check some websites and it appears over 200 nursing related positions were open. "Where is the lab ". St D eliminated care volunteers or care workers to help you find the labs. We often found including us patients walking floors looking for the locations of labs or another check in location. Normal admissions is first floor. Cardiology admissions moved to 11th floor and out first experience there was cardiology admissions ran out of chairs for waiting room patients.

People were standing and eventually they sat people in offices. It took two hours before they asked for our insurance information. That is super tough on old cardio patients. I will say I think physicians and clinicians are superb but St D is appears to constantly be pressuring pay You hear these conversations in the hallways. St D is in the process of selecting a new CEO.

My recommendation is the new CEO should check in as a patient and experience being a patient from the floor up. Example where do I park? Why are there four to five security guards at front door but don't appear to be doing anything? Poor signage in that one cannot find anything. Patient satisfaction is a measure of JAHCO I believe and I would give St D a "D" in regards to this.

I did note nurses who had been there 25 years plus were all about patient care, real passion. Younger staff were absolutely indifferent. I hope your experience is much better than my last visits.

Staff is sweet and kind, but they did absolutely nothing. After 10 days in the hospital, they wasted time conducting CAT scans and x-rays. On the 9th day, they decided to (finally) do a MRI, which should have been done on day 1. This hospital was truly a waste of time and money. Not to mention, the ER check-in was a nightmare. Unless you're bleeding out, don't expect to be taken care of for a few hours.

Once checked in, they held back on insulin for a diabetic. When typically given 12 units, they gave a whopping 6! Long story short, St. Dominic's was sold to FMOL, and since then the administration all changed. It went to shit. Don't waste your time on Jackson hospitals, just go to your nearest major city. P.S. please teach your staff how to fax a report to another hospital. Or email. Or anything. Don't say you're going to communicate with outside doctors and not follow through. People's lives are at stake.

Everybody use to always say go to St. Dominic but why my grandma was taken there and they were horrible that 6th floor was! My mom had to constantly tell the nurses my grandma had to use the bathroom when she was not suppose to get up by herself they didn't give her any medication until the 5th or 6th day she had been there which she was there 8days has dementia conjested heart failure diabetes and she received no meds for any of that didn't see her dr.shekoni until bout the 5th day in there and he was worried about answering his phone the little 5min he was in there I'm telling him she needs her meds or should I have brought them and he say yes go get them but why she in the hospital yall suppose to give them to her the next day he came in apologizing to my mom and grandma but was fin to go out of town but yet yall still haven't taken care of my grandma the nurses was always at the desk and rude my mom said my grandma had to use it they said she had to wait my mom had to rudely get loud with them just to get some help now they have given her medication that's got her shaky cant walk cant stand she's just out of it and boom they sent her home.if it wasnt for my mom being there everyday all day it could be worse so people if you go here dont leave your elderly or any of your family members by there selves because I'm for sure they will be mistreated!

On a scale 1 to 10 it was only bout 3 good nurses that was only seen once with her! As much praying they got going on they need to pray for there employees because thats sad and I hope nothin happens to my grandma because you guys at st dominic on the 6th floor didn't care! If you dont like your job find another one! I give 0 stars!but had to give 1 to submit it!

Worst ER experience ever! The service sucked. Never again! Upon arrival in the ER for an asthma attack, I was given a breathing treatment in triage which I needed. Once I was placed in a ER room the nurse proceeded to order other unnecessary tests before I ever saw the doctor. Calling for an EKG, portable a chest X-ray, bloodwork and a IV line. None of which were needed for a asthma attack.

When my husband requested he speak to the doctor before any extra tests were done the nurse left in a huff and never returned. An 1 1/2 later my hubby went in search of a doctor himself. The doctor looked at my chart, asked me if I had a rescue inhaler then went to write a prescription only never to return. After waiting another 1/2 hour for someone to come back to the room we decided to leave. No nurse, no doctor, no prescription. It seems we upset their applecart by questioning all the additional and costly tests. I will never seek service there again!

Do not go to this hospital if you are seriously ill, They will only overload you with fluids to help you get to the other side before it is your time. They are only interested in sending around the death nurses and doctors to get patients to become dnr and put on hospice. They are not interested in saving lives. I hope to never step foot on their grounds again and encourage others to seek medical help from staff who will think outside the box to save lives.

The nurses and cnas are hard workers who are compassionate. However, I cannot say the same about the doctors. They are arrogant and have no bedside manners. They seem to not care about the life or death of a patient. They seem to only be concern about making money. I know everyone will get sick one day and have to go to a hospital; however, you might do better by staying at home. You might live longer. It terrifies me to think about the bad medical care that is given these day. Lord, help our medical institutions.

Came here w my father who was having heart issues, and all I can say is go somewhere else is you can. Service, food employees are all bad. We have been in a room for a day now and have yet to see a cardiologist, his iv has run out and we can't even get somebody to make the dang thing quit beeping. When I went to ask for help everybody at the nurses station was playing on there phone.

Then a lab technician comes in and says"did I take your blood this morning? We said no, she says, well I got to figure out who that was. This place is a joke, and nasty, everything is sticky. It's also 80 degrees in his room. Ask about his meds and they said, and I quote "it slipped my mind". Yep, she forgot about her heart patient. Bottom line, go to Oxford or tuepelo if at all possible! Here's a tip for this hospital, get your damn employees off their phones and provide the services your suppose to!

My sweet grandson was born here and they were wonderful! What a great hospital. The nurses were attentive and kind and so inclusive of all the family members. The rooms were gorgeous with plenty of chairs and seating for family members and they were really as hands off as they could be with my son and his girlfriend and them having their baby. The cafeteria, while expensive, was really great.

Hot foods, sandwiches, cold drinks, fruit, breakfast food. They had everything. There is also lots of food places very close if you don't want to eat there. Parking is plentiful, we always found a spot right near the hospital (and this place is big). Our whole family loved this place. I'm thrilled that this is where they had their baby!

My aunt was at this hospital once and was treated well. The layout is pretty plain and looks like every other hospital. The rooms aren't very spacious, but the beds are soft.

I've not had any previous, or long-term experiences with St. Dominic's, but when my fiance went to the ER today for a minor accident - I did notice a few things. First, they have an Express ER. I don't know all of the details on what constitutes being able to just go to the Express ER - but I'm glad they have it. Second, when I was traipsing around the regular ER trying to find my fiance - the nurses at the nurse's station were incredibly friendly and helpful.

And every doctor or nurse that walked by me smiled or said hello. Over in the Express ER, once again everyone was very friendly and we had great care from the doctor on staff. He listened and tried to get us out of there as fast as possible. Great experience!

Emergency room is quick and effective. Do NOT stay overnight if you can help it. This hospital doesn't seem to recognize the value of rest for their patients. The staff does not seem to share or review information which results in a highly disorganized and inefficient operation. As I sit here with my elderly father in law who was admitted for observation after experiencing chest pains, there have been no less than 5 visits between 2:30am and 4:30am.

The heart monitor - the reason he was admitted - wasn't brought into the room until 4:30am. The oxygen monitor arrived at 3:30am. His medical information was input into the computers 3 separate times and asked for on 5 total occasions. I anticipate the actual expected sleep interruption in another half hour at 5:30. This man is already frail and easily confused and the complete lack of rest due to disorganization and the loud-talking staff in the hallway has made this a literal nightmare for him so far.

This is thee best hospital to give birth. Dr. Kay Midler delivered my baby and she's great as well as the nurses. I ended up staying 5 days due to high blood pressure but everyone made sure that I was well taken care of as well as my baby. I highly recommend St Dominic especially over umc or cmmc. They actually care. Update! I just gave birth to my second child 12-15-15.

Either I came at a bad time or St Dominic has truly fallen off within the past 3 years since my first born. My first complaint is that when I came in that morning with a ruptured sack, it took over 10 minutes for them to take me to a labor room. The transporter had no idea what floor labor and delivery was. I understand that she was new but u do not assign a new worker to anything dealing with an emergency.

My next complaint is that once I gave birth to my child they immediately put her on the heated bed to check her out which was fine but with all that being done the midwife nurse was about to wisk her away without me getting a chance to hold or even know what my baby looked like. With my first child, we had skin to skin contact and every test including the bath was done inside of the room.

Thank god my room nurse told her to let me hold my child before they take her to the nursery. To make matters worse they kept my baby over 5 hours with no update. I kept asking around trying to figure out what was going on. I was later told that they needed to get her temp regulated which would've been fine if I was being properly updAted. Later that day I was told that they are going to have to transport me from labor and delivery early because they were over crowded.

After being in the new room for a day my mother noticed that there was a sign on the door stating that I was in a contagious air pressured room and to keep the door closed. She questioned a nurse who informed her that they normally keep contagious people in that particular room. U can only imagine how I felt Wtf. I was worried for me and my child's safety as well as embarrassed for any visitors to come by.

I didn't get a complementary diaper bag after asking the nurse repeatedly. I should not have had to Ask for that. I did not get my child's foot print certificate. I had none of these problems my first time at St Dominic. I really wish I had chosen another place to have my child.

We've had two really good experiences here, and one not so good experience here. Most of the doctors and nurses were great. We had good experiences on Floors 2, 3, and 4. Bad experience on Floor 6. Would recommend this hospitals over the others in the same area.

If something is life-threatening, there is no other hospital in Jackson I would trust. Without going into detail, I will just say the doctors and staff here have literally saved the lives of 2 of my immediate family members. The ICU department is top-notch. The nurses in the unit are amazing. The waiting area for surgery is great. I was impressed with how they kept us informed of everything that was going on while we waited.

Sometimes the wait in the ER can be excruciatingly long and other times there is little or no wait. Every staff member I have come into contact with in the ER has been wonderful - the doctors, nurses, x-ray techs, phelbotomists, et al. Great. Just great! All so warm, caring, and friendly. I cannot recommend this hospital enough!
