The Suncoast Eye Center / Eye Surgery Institute has taken more precautions to make our clinic and surgical facility among the safest possible places to receive healthcare at this time. Over the past few months, our facility has maintained strict standards while following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Screening processes in place for all patients, visitors, and clinicians before entering the facility; checking for fevers and any symptoms. Heightened infection prevention policies, including the removal of high-touch items such as magazine, toys, water cooler and blocking water fountain.
Services
At Suncoast Eye Center we employ specialists from the Department of Ophthalmology who provide the full range of clinical services to adults and children. This includes cataract diagnosis and treatment, eyelid and glaucoma surgery. We have been providing outstanding eye care services to the residents of Florida since 1982.
Service bundle information is a non-personalized estimate of cost that may be incurred by the patient for anticipated services. Actual costs will be based on services actually provided to the patient. It is your right to request a personalized estimate from the center. Please reach out directly to the center on our policies on financial assistance, charity care, and collections procedures. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with two operating rooms, two laser suites and comfortable pre and post-operative areas.
Eyelid surgery produces very pleasing results and has become a popular outpatient procedure. Patients experience improved peripheral vision, greater ocular comfort and boast a more youthful appearance after surgery. Many patients report headaches from using brow muscles in their foreheads to lift eyebrows and skin around their eyes in order to see.
Did you know our optical boutique is located right inside our lobby. Patients find the eyewear center a very convent place to have their eyewear prescriptions filled quickly and professionally. I was very unhappy with my experience here. I have been suffering with severe dry eyes for the past few years resulting in sensitivity, soreness and itchiness. It's gotten so bad that I literally have to take a ice pack to work to make them feel better, and I got thru drops like crazy. I decided to try this place when my former optometrist, who did diagnose me with dry eye, had exhausted her ideas to help.

I've tried all kinds of drops, both over the counter and RX. So I thought I would try this place, what could it hurt? Well, let's just say I left work early and had my eyes dilated for nothing. The doctor basically told me he couldn't believe that I was experiencing the symptoms that I was because I was too young to experience them (29 years old, btw).

He said, yes my eyes looked a little dry but drops should help that. He then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't do anything for me and suggested that I get a new job since I'm on the computer all day for work. It was almost like he thought I was making everything up to waste his time. I was very hurt and upset by how I was treated, and I will never go back to this place.

I'm sure the doctors are excellent, but I didn't get that far. I called to assist my elderly uncle in getting a new patient appointment following his move to Hudson from Clearwater, where he'd been established for years with Eye Institute of West Florida. I noted that Suncoast Eye Center was on the participating provider list for his insurance. When I called, the receptionist stated making a new patient appointment "depended on insurance", and when I told her the above, she asked, "he doesn't have Medicare?" and I told her he had both. I was abruptly placed on a lengthy hold (with "Superfreak" as the hold music) while she went to check. I've decided to pursue a different provider.

The people that answer the phone are extremely RUDE! I called to ask if they could help me. Before I could tell them what I need they kept cutting me off! The lady kept asking me questions about insurance and things. I'm not using my insurance! I'm paying cash. I guess they don't like cash paying customers. I'll go to St. Lukes! I hope your boss reads this. Maybe next time listen to your customer and stop being so rude!

Wish I would have gotten the young lady at check outs name she is a sweetheart. They all are very nice. Got me in and seen with insurance issues and all in 24 hours. Dr. Kohlhepp is great also.

Today I had my first experience with Suncoast Eye Center. After reading some of these reviews I would like to say my experience was fantastic. Everyone I dealt with were friendly and professional. Dr. Middaugh was very caring and explained everything to me. I was terrified that I was going to have to have a laser procedure done but all is well. I highly recommend this practice and will he dragging my husband there soon.

After 51 years of wearing glasses, I am now glasses free except for reading glasses. My cataract surgery went so smoothly! All the staff at the surgery center were kind and professional. I was finished before I could even get anxious about it. I used the transportation for my second eye and the driver made sure I got into the car with my walker safely.

It is so life changing to wake up and be able to see! I'm still pinching myself to be sure I'm not dreaming. Dr. Freedman is the best. Didn't pressure me and answered all my questions before the surgery. If I knew it was going to be this easy, I would have done it sooner.

My experience with Dr. Manning and Suncoast Eye center was a very positive experience. I had the YAG Laser procedure on my left eye. Dr. Manning was very open to questions and I was very clear on what I could expect. The procedure was extremely easy. In fact, it was so quick and painless that I will, with out question, return to the facility and Dr. Manning for the same procedure on my right eye.

I found the staff to be friendly and very efficient. I was also impressed that there was no long wait to be seen. I was taken back to the exam room in under 15 minutes. Once in the room, everything was on schedule. I am pleased enough to share my experience with my friends, even though non of them have a need for such a facility and doctor at this time, I hope they will remember my positive experience and contact Dr. Manning and Suncoast Eye Center

The Suncoast Eye Center is the most caring, professional eye care center that the wife and I have ever been to. DR Freedman and his staff made Penny my wife able to see again, after cataract surgery to both eyes. Her vision is almost 20/20. I recently had cataract surgery performed at Suncoast Eye Institute by Dr. Michael Manning. I had both eyes done, about a month apart. The doctor was very considerate, and the whole staff was wonderful. I felt very well taken care of. They explained everything and answered all my questions very thoroughly, yet without a lot of medical jargon. My vision is much improved.
