I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about 13 years ago, and over that time I've had my periods of struggling with it, finally ending up on the medication Humira. Recently, I've given more thought to having children, but don't want to be on any prescriptions that may harm the baby, so I wanted to find a more natural way of managing my Crohn's, which was the reason I chose to see Dr. Hudson at the Tualatin Clinic of Natural Medicine.

The office is small, though they've recently added a second treatment room, and very personal. The paperwork I filled out prior to the appointment was some of the most thorough paperwork I've ever filled out for a doctor appointment, actually looking at the "whole picture" of my health instead of just seeing the Crohn's. Dr. Hudson is very nice and our first visit was about an hour/an hour and a half as she went over my paperwork question by question, getting more information, asking for more details, and in general getting to know me and what brought me to her office. (And she saw me right at my appointment time -- no waiting!) Needless to say, all of that is so rare with "modern" doctor offices, where you're lucky if you get ten minutes with the doctor after waiting an hour past your appointment time. Dr. Hudson worked out a plan to get me healthy, because I really wasn't.

It included a complete change of diet (anti-inflammatory to help calm my Crohn's, gluten free for the same reason), inclusion of vitamins (especially Vitamin D, no surprise here in the Pacific NW), and some specialized "medical food" that was designed for people with digestive disease like Crohn's to help with the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Six months after being on the new diet and new medicines, along with exercising 3 times a week, my gastroenterologist said my test results came back showing so signs of active Crohn's (last year I had signs of mild-to-moderate activitity). I really believe Dr. Hudson helped put me back on track to being as healthy as I was before being diagnosed with Crohn's--possibly even healthier! This is an excellent location with fantastic doctors. I highly recommend it.
