Jon, I have a story involving your practice from a several years ago before we even lived in Chapel Hill. I think it was the week you opened. We were visiting Chapel Hill and my 2 year old son got a nasty splinter in his foot and I knocked on your doors to ask.

At Village Pediatrics, our practice was founded on the concept of a MEDICAL HOME. These people are just the best! They are quick to answer the phone and help. They have a number you can call after hours. The staff are 100% kind and helpful. They have been through hell with the pandemic and they have gotten even better with quick testing nextdoor. They are heroes!

We are grateful having Village Pediartics as our kid's supportive professionals. They adapted covid pandemics wisely with reasonable precautions and workflows so you won't feel unwelcome for having an allergic baby with nasal congestion, who has been wrongly considered contagious in another practice and eventually missed routine vaccinations (willing to share the experience if anyone is interested in). We are impressed with providers at Village Pediartics with their genuine and professional cares. They are really there to solve our problems!

We have been apart of the village pediatrics family since 2009. We love the staff, nurses and doctors in this office. We have been sad to see some go (Dr Shumate especially) but have been replaced by more amazing doctors. The nurses are wonderful, caring and compassionate. We will never go anywhere else.

We have been going to Dr Gush and Co for almost a decade. Always thoughtful and thorough treatment, plus great service and help from the staff. Highly recommend.

We've been coming here since our daughter was born in September 2016. Our pediatrician is mainly Dr. Cabellon. She is so fantastic. Always calls to follow up with with us. The nurses and office staff are also super nice. They have walk in times for patients that need to be seen to urgent last minute cases. We had to take our daughter in since she had a cough.

We took her in on a weekday morning and there was hardly a wait. My daughter had some sort of virus. Dr. Cabellon called us the very next day with test results and recommendations. We've had great experiences here.

This place is perfect. We love that they are not affiliated with any large scale health facility - we didn't realize how nice that was until we moved and couldn't find a local pediatrician. We love the small-town feel, ease of access to providers, and willingness to focus on patient needs. For example, at Village Peds infants can get two vaccines at once - one in each leg administered by two nurses so there's just one moment of pain - and they allow parents to hold infants during vaccinations to provide more comfort - both of which are best practices for patient care that aren't typical in pediatrician offices.

We also appreciate the ability to speak to a human when we call - instantly usually - and quickly be connected to a provider for after hours needs. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.

This is my experience with Village Pediatrics from November 2012 through today December 20th 2012. Just over 45 days since we first met with them. Our experience so far has been a tale of two offices. Before we selected them we went for an upfront consultation. The lady at the front desk was very friendly, then Maria spent an hour with us asking questions and offering lots of valuable advice and talking about how much we would be working with her soon when our son was born.

We selected them without reviewing any other Peds offices in town. then everything changed. We've visited them four times now as a patient for our son who is currently four weeks old. Over our four visits we haven't once been greeted by the front desk person, she never looks up when we walk in, and always indicates that she's busy. We haven't as much as seen Maria again, not sure if she's still there.

I believe she was one of the founders of the practice. One appointment we waited for 45 minutes past our appointment time in the lobby. Other appointments we've been left sitting in the patient room for 20 minutes with no explanation why. Earlier this week we needed an urgent referral to a specialist and it took them 24 hours to even initiate it. We called and spoke with Megan at the front desk several times and she was obviously irritated by our follow-ups.

I just got off the phone with her earlier today and after giving her the fax number of the doctor where the referral needed to be made, she didn't say anything and just hung up the phone. I was shocked. We feel like the doctors we've seen at Village Pediatrics so far are very warm and understanding and helpful. But from our experience we feel that the office staff around them are frantic, stressed out, rude, uncaring, and not detail oriented.

Since we often spend most of our time interacting with the office staff, I would say that this isn't acceptable. We will be looking to find another Pediatrics office very soon. ------------------------------------------------ Additional Note: 5/30/2013 I'm following up to my review from a few months ago. Since posting my comments here at that time the office staff and doctors have followed up with us about our specific issues.

After some changes to the office staff and Maria's return to the office (apparently she was out on personal leave for a few months) our experience has returned back to being very good. We also now schedule our appointments during their slow times which recently has reduced our wait time to 5 minutes or less on every visit. The front desk staff is very attentive and since there are no waits we spend more time with doctors and nurses anyway which is great.

We feel like the advice and guidance that we've gotten from the doctors has been consistently fantastic. It remains that way now. We now plan to keep using this practice now that our recent experiences have been so good.

Lets face it, nobody really likes take their kids to the doctor, but the staff at Village Peds are the best. My first encounter with Dr. Kim with what I would call an emergency, a sick infant with a high fever. My former peds office suggested that I take my baby to the emergency room even though I BEGGED to wait in the lobby for a opening. Dr. Kims staff encouraged me to bring baby right away and spent TIME caring for my sick child. I have been a fan ever since. If only they could be my doctor too. Much love to Village Peds.
