The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, founded in 1857, is a not-for-profit, professional association for physicians who practice or live in Hamilton County, Ohio. The mission of the Academy of Medicine is to advocate on issues affecting physicians' ability to practice in an environment that fosters the highest quality medicine possible.
Academy membership is open to licensed physicians, medical students, and retired physicians. All classes of membership shall be obliged to abide by the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati Articles of Incorporation and Code of Regulations. The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati is governed by a Code of Regulations that was most recently amended and accepted in 2012. The Code outlines membership classes, leadership roles, financial matters (including dues), meetings, committees, and more. The Academy's Code of Regulations is approved by the Ohio State Medical Association, follows parliamentary procedure as contained in Robert's Rules of Order, and acts in accordance with the Code of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association in medical ethics matters.
