If anyone has any reservations against Blount Memorial Hospital, please rethink those feelings! I had a great experience with the nursing and anesthesiology staff. Everyone was very attentive and I'm very grateful they helped me along my first surgery. They explained every emotion I had after anesthesia and how those feelings were valid. Nurses are understaffed and it's completely understandable why a lot are burnt out.

So for them to act so kindly toward me, is huge. I felt comfortable asking questions because they answered all of them honestly and without judgement. Blount rocks, nurses rock, and doctors rock.

Had a quick ER visit this morning for an ear infection. I was already very hesitant on going, as it was a minor issue and didn't want to be a bother, however my current treatment wasn't working and I wasn't sleeping; off we go at 5 am. I'm greeted by the man at the check in, he is very friendly and made conversation with me as I was nervous (not a fan of medical buildings as many) the nurses and doctor I interacted with were all extremely kind and made me feel very comfortable.

After visiting two clinics and 4 doctors for the issue I was having, being told it wasn't anything more than dry ears, Dr. Bramati listened to my very tired concerns and gave me the answers I've been trying to get for the last year. I am relieved and confidant after going in and I cannot thank the wonderful medical team enough for being so welcoming!

My husband and I would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks and just how much we appreciate the ICU nurses and physicians in that department. The worst day of our lives, loosing our son, became a moment that was devastating to us. They cared for him the best I have ever seen and also took time to comfort us during this heartbreak.

If I could give zero stars I would because this ER is TERRIBLE! The hospital and multiple departments will be getting a letter from myself as well as the board of nursing for a terrible ER nurse. I would never ever go back to this hospital! Not even if I was dying. I will definitely be getting all my care from doctors not affiliated with this hospital.

My mom went to this hospital after a primary care doctor told her she needed to go to the ER for her blood sugar. Her blood sugar was over 600, which could have put her into a diabetic coma. She waited over eight hours to see a doctor in the ER, and when she did, they were not able to get her blood sugar below 300 even with insulin and an IV. Instead of monitoring her to see if it would go down, like the nurse believed would happen (and she'd stay overnight - as diabetics with over 200 blood sugar are still in the danger zone) - her doctor sent her home with no medication, no referrals to a diabetic specialist, and no care.

Keep in mind she did not eat the entire time she was there in fear of her blood sugar increasing. Her blood sugar stayed super high until she found her own diabetic specialist. This hospital could have seriously harmed my mother and I would absolutely NEVER tell anyone to go here if they want to be treated with any ounce of care.

Worst hospital I've ever dealt with. A simple bowel resection turned into a month long stay in 3 different hospitals. The patient didn't recover. They put an IV in their neck that wasn't in the artery, the nurse couldn't figure out why the meds weren't working. They gave the patient a potassium chloride gel cap they couldn't swallow, it stayed in the patient's mouth till it dissolved and all that blue from it got all over their face and gown.

I can go on. Do not use this butcher shop if you love the patient! Patient left with heart complications they never had before. They had a heart attack and not one Dr or nurse noticed

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a joke. Terrible. 9 hours in the waiting room and they didn't even give orders until an AMA was signed. You could have a heart attack and they would tell you to sit and wait. Nurses can't even answer simple questions. Sickening. You get these horrible reviews and don't do anything about it! You just continue to provide horrible care. Just actually take the time to fix the problem and become a better hospital because you'll end up hurting someone.

This hospital is a joke to the community. There's a reason people avoid it like the plague. You could have the plague and may never actually be seen. My elderly mother has been in the ER for nearly 8 hours and hasn't even been seen for an evaluation. Asinine on all levels. Avoid this place and it's staff by all costs. Final Update: 14 and a half hours later she was FINALLY seen, got left in a room and eventually was discharged nearly 19 hours later. Never. Again. Steer clear of this joke of a "medical" facility.

Reasons why I don't recommend BMH, it took 12 hours for my elderly father to get a bed, and when they put him in a room, it hadn't been cleaned, it looked like they literally just threw a patient out and put him in, and when my mother complained, they still didn't send someone to clean it. That's unacceptable! Then the male nurse wouldn't give my father his meds, my father had to argue with him, then the nurse gives him the WRONG medication and caused awful side affects, again, UNACCEPTABLE!

I recently had surgery at BMH. Every worker that I came in contact with during the surgery, from registration to exiting the hospital, was friendly and helpful. The nurses, anesthesiologist, nurse practitioner, and surgeon all did a fabulous job. In the past, I have also been a patient in the Family Birthing Center. Both times the experience was excellent. The doctors I see that are affiliated with the hospital have all taken excellent care of my family and myself.

Terrible care! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I was given a medication to lower my blood pressure on day 3 of a 5 day hospital for an EEG. I had a severe reaction to the medication. I was tingling all over, I couldn't breathe more than a pant, I could only speak through a severe stutter and my muscles became rigid and contracted. All the nurse said was to just breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth and they'd monitor me through the camera.

My heart rate got over 150 bpm. The nurses still did nothing. My blood pressure was never checked during the reaction. My husband had to go get a nurse even after my crying out for help. The doctor on call was paged 6 times that I know of in an approximate 4 hour time frame, but didn't respond. Afterwards, I was given one Tylenol for the migraine the reaction left me with. After 2 hours of pain and no help, I checked myself out. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH OR LIFE!

Went to a clinic for a cough and wheezing. Turns out i had covid. I have anxiety about going to Dr's so i was already having an anxiety attack i was then sent here for my heart rate not going down.because im having an anxiety attack. The nurses were nice at first. But after getting blood taken i was sent to waiting room filled with patients just after being told im covid positive.

While waiting i learned that the next up patient has waited there for 12 hours! I am not waiting that long for you to tell me i had an anxiety attack and it was that high because im fat. My heart rate went down to normal in the waiting room after an hour so i left. The nurse then was rude when i told her i no longer need any treatment. I understand they were very busy but she did not need to say that i wasted her time. I didnt even think i would be here. and i still dont have anything to help for my cough.

I got blood drawn at East TN Medical Group and a routine x-ray, which is run by Blount Memorial. The person who called my name for blood draw threw up her hands and said she couldn't pronounce it to the whole room full of phlebotomists and other people getting blood drawn. 7% of Tennessee residents are latino/latinx (https://www.census.gov/library/stories/state-by-state/tennessee-population-change-between-census-decade.html). Don't know how to pronounce someone's name?

Ask them. That's called cultural competence https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1831630/. Then I went on to imaging. The x-ray tech, when I asked for lead shields, mentioned that there is new evidence they aren't needed, blind-siding me. There is at least one freely available information brochure on the changing evidence on changing shielding protocols (https://ncrponline.org/wp-content/themes/ncrp/PDFs/NCRP_Gonadal_Shielding_Trifold.pdf) but this part of Blount Memorial can't manage to give people the heads up about this change, which are available on the Internet, for example https://youtu.be/t0JU7up5iwk and https://ncrponline.org/wp-content/themes/ncrp/PDFs/Statement13.pdf for example.

Would not get lab work or imaging here again if I can help it, because when results of x-ray sent to my other health care provider, they were characterized as "vague" which is what the person has begun to expect from Blount Memorial. Diagnostics and imaging seem to be about through-put, not excellence in medicine at Blount Memorial. Oh, and the imaging technician is supposed to be wearing shields, despite new rules for shielding patients, but was not as far as I could tell. Does not inspire confidence.

Do not go here if you have the choice. Went in with so much pain and they would do nothing to solve it. Was left in a back room for 2 hours with no one checking up. It was late and night and they weren't even busy yet they wouldn't help me. Sent me home 4 hours later just to say I needed to go to a primary doctor for help. I was scolded over not having insurance, something a nurse should never say.

Horrible place and I highly recommend going to UT! I'll give you three experiences-1 I'm a struggling alcoholic trying to get better. Last year I went to a rehab facility and they said I should probably go to the hospital first to get checked out. I was taken by emt to Blount were I got treated for a few hours and sent about my way. I then went to the rehab facility and was looked at right away from the nurse to told me I needed to go to a hospital.

I went to UT and was admitted for 5 days. Blount just wanted me out of there. 2 Had a serious fall and was brought there again by emt. They gave me a bed to lay in for a few hours then called my emergency contact to come pick me up. They didn't even clean and dress the wounds I had on my arms and hand. The next day I went to UT and found out I had a broken rib! Again, Blount just saw an intoxicated man and wanted to get rid of me. Didn't do an exam, fluids, dress my wounds as far as I could tell at all.

Then the other day I get a friend to take me to a rehab and I'm to intoxicated for admission so they send me to Blount. I sat in a chair for hours in the lobby. I think that was there plan just leave me there. I got up and went to the nurses station and a cop they have working there tells me to sit down and if I say anything again he was going to arrest me.

I was there to try to get better. I agree I have to stop drinking but jail. I was going to a rehab, then hospital, then possible jail for standing up and asking what was going on with my treatment. I called a taxi and left. Didn't make it to rehab then. I'm clean and sober now and working to stay that way. If I was having a heart attack and they were the only place to save me I'd rather die in front than go back in that place. And that police officer, I've been a strong advocate of blue lives matter. But he didn't care for a fellow human at all. He is a disgrace.

My uncle has been in the ICU for a week now and during the Covid the Hospital has rules and regulations regarding visitors. The ICU nurse taking care of my unlce Kody Smitherman was absolutely AMAZING with allowing phone calls(I am in Michigan) on a daily basis to keep me informed of his prognosis. Its not everyday that you deal with people that have compassion in what they do so when someone comes accross your path I feel they should get the recognition they deserve! So heres my SHOUT OUT TO KODY SMITHERMAN you are awesome at what you do! Keep being an amazing human and thank you for everything you have done for our family!

The entire staff needs to be retrained in proper use of gloves to prevent the spread of infections. There is a huge gap between theory and practice. My best advise: Choose elsewhere if at all possible.

I have been at the Outpatient surgery center 8 times - 6 for & 2 for my husband- to have a procedure done there. I used to always tell people how much I liked it, friendly staff, knowledgeable nursing. Well this past time fell short on confidence, communication & knowledge. Too many "incidents" to go in to. I spoke with the supervisor 3 times about various problems, not getting any satisfaction from her responses.

And the nursing staff, who I always said we're top notch, should go to refresher courses for medications & reading doctor's orders! Very dissatisfied & hope neither of us have to use this facility again!

I received excellent care as a patient. The staff checked on me hourly, and my physician checked on me daily. They even updated a board in my room to keep me up to date with my plan of care. I will definitely use them again, if I need to in the future.

Blount Home Equipment employee Susan is very rude. This is well known by others. She told someone to not wait until closing time to come pick up supplies! Really. The supplies needed are called in a day or so before pick up and occassionaly have not been ready when the customer came for supplies. Change the closing time to 5:30 if you want to guarantee everyone is out by 6p.m. Customers should not feel like they are a burden.

There are other options for DME. People have work schedules and may not be able to pick up until after work. I have done the same for prescriptions but no pharmacy has told me don't come so close to closing. This is unacceptable!

My daughter was a patient on the Neuro wing several weeks ago. I was very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The hospital was very clean and the care she got was excellent. The only complaint I have is being a smaller hospital, they were not able to do an EEG over the weekend or have a neurologist on staff for the weekend.

We are here from New York for a wedding. My granddaughter was admitted in the middle of the night.there is no improvement and she is worse and the doctor has not responded to repeated calls from the nurse. THERE IS NO doctor communication in this hospital!

This is a frightening hospital. The treatment my mother received was inhumane. Examples: I arrived at 5am to hear her screaming for help but the nurse sitting at the desk - closer to her than I was, doing nothing. (She had been lying in a wet bed.) I also asked them not to put a mask on her face for breathing treatment because of a jaw injury. They tech pretended to comply then when I stepped in the hall put the mask on. Later, Mother developed pneumonia.

The number one reason for pneumonia developing in hospitals is unsanitary breathing treatment equipment. I could tell so many other horror stories of what happened to her. Multiple doctors were angry that her living will stated she wanted IV fluids (not food) along with standard comfort care if she was on hospice. They continually pressured me to violate her living will. Stay away if you can!

Nice local hospital in Blount County. If I lived in the county, I would use these doctors. The staff is professional. The cafeteria is good. Gift shop is exceptional and great buys. Parking is free. There is a pretty garden with chairs to the right of the main entrance

The doctors and nurses at this hospital treated my elderly father horribly. It took them about 12 tries to catheterize him, which he said was very painful. Afterward they all just turned and walked out of the room leaving him with the hospital gown up around his neck and the bedsheets around his ankles. Another time, a nurse woke him in the middle of the night claiming she needed to do some tests.

She left my father's room to get some equipment, never to return. He waited for over an hour before going back to sleep. He said he never did see her again. Overall the staff at this hospital seems callous and uncaring. Also, this hospital is not clean or sanitary. They let a stool sample sit in my father's bathroom for 4 hours, and never did clean it up. His room smelled awful! We removed my father from Blount Memorial Hospital for fear he would end up with an infection.

4 stars for a hospital is a pretty big deal! The only reason I didn't give it 5 was because of the lab where I had my blood drawn the morning of my surgery. The lab is too small and there are just too many people in there. It's like a rat race--who can draw blood the fastest! You're pretty much stuffed into 4 small walls with too many chairs, too many patients, too many people drawing blood TOO quickly, all at the same time, without enough space to move around. Disclaimer: I was an outpatient and therefore only experienced a day's worth of doctors, nurses, CNAs, lab techs, and everyone in between.

I cannot speak to an overnight experience. Nurses that deserve a shout out: Stacey and Gina. They are kind, funny, and caring. They take their time with you and make you feel like they're welcoming you to their home. Thanks for making me laugh! If there was any way to request nurses, I'd request these two. From the moment I entered the building I was treated with an incredible amount of respect.

And quickly--I cannot believe how punctual they are! From checking in to drawing blood (my needle hurt because the lady drawing blood, albeit nice, was in such a rush: see above), to the waiting room (where I didn't actually have to wait because they were SO punctual), to the pre-op room where I got in my fun, warm, well-lined gown (and non-slip socks :) and bed; Each person I encountered was warm, welcoming and willing to do whatever it took to make me comfortable. Praises for this hospital and thank you for doing such a great job!
