After emigrating from South Africa at 17 years old, Jonathan Woolfson worked his way through the University of the South, Vanderbilt Medical School, and a residency in ophthalmology and Emory. He then returned to South Africa to learn all he could from cornea surgery pioneer, Michael Kritzinger, MD, about a new eye procedure called LASIK.

I had my cataract surgery two days ago on my right eye and left coming up Monday. It has been an excellent experience with Dr Cook and his immense staff. So kind helpful and so well trained. I had my follow up 24 hrs later and I'm 20/25 and healing will make it even better. No pain in surgery, a light anesthesia made it pleasant. I recommend them to anyone as it is a great experience!

I have been trying for over a month to get a refund since I was charged $2900 over what my insurance covered. I am not having any luck and I am getting the run around from the billing office. Poor customer service.

Both surgeries (left/right) eyes went extremely well). The. Wry next day at the follow-up appointment, my eyes were tested as I got 20/20 vision back. Never had surgery before, but the nurses and surgeons were extremely knowledgeable and everything I was told to expect panned out. (numbing, anesthesia and how it would help me not feel anything etc.).

It's been about two weeks since my last eye, but it's healing perfectly. The entire staff esp Dr. Cook was precise, accommodating, and amazing. The prep and operating rooms are comfortable. I was in and out.

Had my vision corrected with Woolfson. I did my research and that led me to believe this is the best place to get laser vision correction in the southeast - if not - the United States. My initial consult was great and handled in the Lawrenceville. Very professional and overall great experience. I felt comfortable moving forward with the vision correction. Communications leading up through into the chair was excellent.

Once in the operating room, everyone felt genuinely interested in making it a comfortable experience. Everything was done in the blink of an eye. I looked up at the clock and was able to see the time without glasses for the first time in 31 years. I highly recommend Woolfson if you are considering vision correction.

I spent more than 4 hours; between 2 days having my eyes tested to find out if I was a candidate for lens implants, which I am but chose not to move forward with due to the cost. That was not my reason for giving 3 stars. Neither is the service and professionalism, because they were very nice and thorough with my exams and the Dr's were great in explaining everything to me.

My issue is that after paying $110 to go forward with testing the second day, I was not able to receive my eye glass prescription from them. Now I must go somewhere else for that. It seems very strange to me that I'm tested so thoroughly but could not have access to my prescription since I chose not to go forward with surgery.

I recently had Lasik eye surgery in both eyes at the Woolfson Eye Institute office in Sandy Springs and had a great experience. Dr. Woolfson and his staff are kind, knowledgeable and very easy to work with. I highly recommend them to others. It's not easy to trust someone with your eye sight. But the Woolfson Eye Institute will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable every step of the way. Schedule a consultation appointment with them today!

Probably the best decision I have ever made! I had a -12.25 prescription with astigmatism and now I am only a -2. I I'll go back in 6 months for a second procedure to finish my correction. This has been truly life changing for me. Wonderful experience all around. Every staff member was helpful, pleasant, polite and friendly. From consultation to surgery, they guided me through the process every step of the way. David was hilarious and made surgery way less scary.

He was really great to talk with. The entire team at the surgical center made it a great experience. Dr. Woolfson is amazing, funny and knows what he is doing. I felt like part of a family while in the facility. Every single staff member cared about me, my experience, and well being. I 100% recommend Dr. Woolfson to anyone looking for Lasik. I cannot imagine having as good of an experience anywhere else. I am looking forward to seeing them all again for my next procedure. Team Wolfpack!

Dr. Woolfson and his staff are warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. Every question and concern were answered and addressed fully. The day of my procedure David and Dr. Woolfson went over every step in detail, continued to answer questions and made sure I was comfortable before beginning. The procedure itself went smoothly without any discomfort. The day after I am seeing clearly and loving the freedom from glasses or contacts. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Woolfson to anyone remotely interested in Lasik!

I just had cataract eye surgery recently on both of my eyes at the Woolfson Eye Institute on Mount Vernon Hwy in Sandy Springs, GA. My surgeon was Dr. James Hays, and I believe and feel that he and all of his assistants and staff are very caring, professional, and efficient. They make an excellent team which results in the best outcome for patients, and I have been extremely pleased and thrilled at every step of the way throughout the entire process. I would recommend them highly to anyone seeking the ultimate experience possible with eye surgery.

A wonderful experience and wonderful people. They were all so nice and explained everything in lengthy detail. If you leave there with any confusion, it's your own fault. I am happy that I chose Woolfson Eye Institute for such a delicate procedure. So far, so good! No more contacts, no more glasses for distance vision. Only one thing could have made this experience any more perfect would have been a large pizza to snack on while I waited! Thanks Dr. Woolfson, staff & David for all you did to help me become an improved version of myself.

I would recommend Woolfson Eye Institute to anyone and everyone. I got lasik one year ago here and had the most amazing experience. It wasn't painful at all, I had a little bit of discomfort about 2 hours after the surgery, but took a nap and when I woke up, there was no pain and I could see every leaf in every tree. Dr. Woolfson is so comforting and educated about what he does, he calmed my nerves and answered every single question I had, even the stupid ones.

If the Michelin star rating was given to businesses, this place deserves all three stars. 100% worth the trip, regardless of where you live. Dr. Woolfson is amazing. 10/10 completely recommend this place for lasik!

Had cataract procedure done and super pleased with results. Had right eye worked on and 30 minutes to an hour noticed remarkable results! Reading billboards and car tags without my glasses was amazing! Dr. Hayes and the staff of Woodson Institute are the friendliest people you'll meet. Courteous and professional. Can't wait to have surgery done on left eye.

I've always joked that if I was ever going to get Lasik's I want the doctor who did Tiger Woods or someone like that. Definitely not some graduate of Harvard on the Highway or some buy one get one free coupon king or something. No I want the guy who did my optometrist's eyes. So that's how I ended up here. I asked around a couple of optometrist that I knew and both of them said Woolfson without a doubt.

Also I've been hearing about them on WSB radio for years.well it turned out I've been hearing about Woodhams which one of their competitor but at least I got the first letter right. I saw Dr Tom for my Lasiks consultation and I was impressed with how much care they put into the initial consultation-esp considering it was free.which I was surprised because they spent a lot of time on me. it wasn't like oh click click here and there.now write us a check for $4500.

No they spent like 2.5 hours really talking to me about every single detail of the procedure. Dr. Tom is such a nice person and has a fantastic sense of humor. If you are considering Lasiks then I would definitely give them a try.

I went in a few weeks ago for a cosmetic procedure consultation with Dr. Walrath. When I called for the appointment I asked multiple times if there was a charge for consultations and the person answering the phone never did answer. Instead she kept asking about insurance even though I told her this is a cosmetic procedure that insurance doesn't cover.

When I arrived for the appointment again there was no mention of a charge for consultation but they insisted on getting my insurance info even though insurance would not be involved. To my surprise, after the consultation I was informed that there was a $100 charge! Don't get me wrong, I totally don't mind paying for a professional's time but I do mind not being told up front.

I also don't get the insistence on getting insurance info when they know very well (or should know) cosmetic procedures are not covered. As for Dr. Walrath himself, he seemed friendly and knowledgeable but the encounter with his office procedures have left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll select another doctor to do the procedure even though the other doctor's price is higher.

A demoralizing and insulting visit. I have years of experience in healthcare, so my expectations are pretty grounded. Woolfson also advertises that they work with insurance. If you're in a hurry, just read #4 and #5. 1. My spouse and I waited nearly 2 months for a consultation. We prepared by watching all educational materials sent to us and consulting with our insurance company before our visit so we could make relatively informed and rational decisions. Woolfson's educational materials said they work diligently with insurance companies, so it seemed in our best interests to be informed. 2.

We drove more than 2 hours to make our appointment that was scheduled at 12pm. We weren't helped until 1 pm. 3. We were put into an exam room at 140 and told that the doctor would come in 10 minutes. He didn't come in until 3. 4. Doctor comes in and says my spouse needs keratoconus treatment in both eyes. We agree with the doctor and wanted the procedure he felt was needed. Trying not to waste time, we said our insurance would only cover the FDA-approved version of the procedure that Woolfson offers.

Then he shifts his tone. The doctor then decides to tell us how insurance almost NEVER covers this procedure, that each eye will cost $10,000+ in overhead before he even can even BEGIN to charge his fees, and that he has a very full caseload of hundreds of patients. 5. Ok? Why advertise and imply a higher success rate of coverage if it so rarely happens?

I checked your prices on Reddit, and the highest was $16,000 for two eyes. Big difference. Also, why is this being communicated only after you've been guaranteed $395+ payment for this visit? 6. We told him that we both work in public service and that our relatively robust insurance was the only way we could reasonably afford this. My spouse clearly was affected by the pressure to act and the ballooning costs.

He then shifted his tone and told us to come back in 6 months to see if we could find the progression needed to get prior authorization. 7. Annoyed, but realizing that we need to process the new information, we attempted to schedule a follow up. The front office couldn't schedule anything that far in advance, so they said they'd call?

Wow exam was so bad I never went back for surgery. Your just a number with them. No one ever talked to me except a tech. Never told me we were done, just walked out and left me sitting in the exam chair. No diagnosis, nothing just walked out. The Doctors only interest was in a pretty girl who was there to learn. They wanted an extra $6,600 to use their laser. Said they needed it because I had astigmatism. New Dr. say I have no astigmatism! Overall felt like a Russian surgery production line.

Great consult visit. On time. No wasted time despite the number of tests that were performed. Very efficient. Eyes examined by both clinical director and the big guy himself. All questions answered. Very good experience.

I had 20/15 vision in my left eye and my near sightedness in my right eye was bad. I had extra HSA money to spend, so I thought I'd tune up my right eye, as I'm right handed. During a long consultation, the doctor sat me down and asked how my fat sighted vision was. I said it was great. It really was great. I could see perfect from inches away to feet away.

His only comment was: "Well, as you age you can expect to lose your farsightedness." I said okay, as I thought that sounded normal. What he should have said is "After this surgery you will have 20/20 vision in your right eye, but will lose all your farsightedness and will need glasses. Me, not having a problem would have walked. BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD. Surgery went well, now I need glasses. They offered to do another surgery to give me Univision. HARD PASS! They should have offered that AND my money back.

Great team and office. Earlier when covid started the office had some communication issues. Now, it seems with some updates and changes was able to work with the office and get our procedure done. Overall a great and clean practice.

First I need to say that the staff and Dr. Day are wonderful! However, they NEVER run on schedule! I had an 8:30 am appointment and wasn't taken in back until 8:50. I was passed around for several different tests (billable hours need to be maximized!) and didn't leave the office until 10:10. During that time I spent a maximum of 20-25 min with an actual person and most of my time was spent waiting.

I saw Dr. Day for a total of 5 min tops! This is a scheduling factory. They stack appointments and don't run on time. This has been a consistent problem since my first appointment and I will not be going back.

Staff at Atlanta location is Extremely rude and difficult to work with. Don't know anything about the doctors but who they hire and keep on staff tells me all I need to know. These people need to learn customer service.

I went to see Dr Douglas Day at Woolfson Eye Institute for 2nd opinion/consultation evaluation on March 9th, 2020. Dr Day spent less than 5 mins with me in his office. Before this visit, I sent my previous records to his assistant Maribel Switzer before visit. Whole idea of 2nd opinion is to get expert physician do his own assessment, review previous treatment, explain his office visit's finding and explain to the pt what next step of best treatment by existing physician and/or provide recommendation. Dr Day didn't review or discuss tests performed in his office, differential dx or tx options, my previous medical records of previous Ophthalmologist.

You don't start treating patient in 2nd opinion visit.but he started treating me by saying "Stop Simbrinza, it's over killed my tx and follow up in 4 weeks and if your pressure is still high in 4 weeks then we will consider surgical option". Surgery? What surgery? That's wrong. I was hoping for good quality interaction and excited to see him but very disappointed with his poor quality evaluation and poor bad site manner "No hi or no bye and no time for question".

I was shocked and confused when he stood up and started walking out of the office without asking if I had any question or didn't say bye". What a crazy bad side manner this MD has! I am so upset and couldn't understand what just happened in less than 5 mins! Before I realized and settled in his office.visit was over. I would have given minus 5 star if system had allowed. Stay away from him and high priced advertisement they do!

I had an appointment with Dr. Stulting today and it was the first and last time I'll see him as a patient. I made the appointment based on a referral from my optometrist -- I'll be asking for another. Two people walked into the room and neither knew my name. Dr. Stulting quickly said his name and started looking into my eyes. He commented that my pupils hadn't been dilated long enough and asked how long ago had they been.

I declined dilation and the lab tech noted it on the chart -- a chart that Dr. Stulting apparently didn't bother to look at. I took it upon myself to ask who the other person was in the room. He was an observing student. I admit, I figured as much. I've had interns and students observe me as well. When they do, I make certain to introduce them and ask if anyone objects to their presence.

As professionals we're used to things that not everyone experiences regularly. Lawyers are comfortable in courtrooms, certainly more so than the person that has one speeding ticket. Real estate agents buy and sell more houses in 3 months than I will in my lifetime. That shouldn't mean you gloss over the process, it means you take care with people that are probably less knowledgeable than you and don't assume everything is copacetic.

Obviously students need to learn and I didn't mind his presence; I did mind the lack of acknowledgment and the presumption there is no choice in the matter. After this point, another person entered to give me paperwork, which I sat aside as I had removed my contacts and couldn't read. Apparently, this was uncouth in Dr. Stulting's eyes as "the paperwork would be more useful at home." I told him I'd take it home, but as I couldn't read it I didn't need to hold it.

He spent the next several seconds filling out paperwork, reminding me to read the papers, seeming very excited about a experimental treatment, and asking me three times if I had any questions, apparently not satisfied when I said no either of the first two times I answered. When it was time to leave, I was walked to the front desk to "check out." I asked to put my contacts back in first, was directed to check out first, to which I responded, "I cannot see, " for the second time.

To people that have seen my eye chart and should know just how much I cannot see. My contacts are -7.0 in one eye, -8.0 in the other for reference. I go to the public restroom, replace my contacts, and return to the desk to find the woman with my chart has disappeared. I'm told I'm all set and can go. The follow up appointment the doctor wanted was never scheduled, but that's quite all right because I'll never see him as a doctor again. I consider my optometrist a quality professional; the only cause I've ever had to question anything he's said or done was making a referral to Dr. Stulting.

Dr Woolfson does a good job. I had my lasik done with him 11 years ago and although my vision has slightly gone downhill, I still don't need glasses. Good luck ever getting your referral credit. I've referred 3 people, who all put my name down, and I barely got one referral fee after following up half a dozen times. I've followed up on the most recent so many times and kept being told they were working on it. and it's been almost a year.

Excellent Techs. Dr. Leff says he knows his stuff. But has the worst personality. Does not explain anything. Does his thing and walks out. They mentioned Dr. Leff's likes to leave his card for any updates or further info. But honestly he left room so quick I think he must of forgot. Let me see if he remembers on my upcoming visit. I will definitely take a step by step look at the process and update this review on how this next visit will go coming up.

I hope it's goes well or I am just going to ask for a referral for another doctor. Unfortunately trust is big issue when it comes to my health. I will see if he regains my trust.

Appointment was for 10 am in Lawrenceville Never saw a doctor till 1230 Doctor came in apologized and asked me to wait a half hour for an available specialist to come in and review pricing. I said no they could call me. 10 days later and two follow up calls to them - still no response. Place has a distinct feel similar to a cattle call. Over 50 people in the waiting room waiting like me. I would not recommend this place.

Do not trust these guys. They recommended I come in and have an annual eye exam with them, but after coming in I found out they run it through the insurance as an exam by a "specialist" (the exact word used by their representative that answered the billing phone), so insurance doesn't cover it completely as it should. I called to inquire as to why they were sending me a bill when my insurance completely covers annual exams, and the representative was not helpful at all, just saying that since the doctors are "specialists" they don't run the annual exams as annual exams through the insurance. The end result is that I have to pay for something my insurance is supposed to cover. Boo!

Wonderful experience! I was a little nervous the day of but Dr Woolfson and David put a quick end to that. These guys know what they are doing and there is nothing to be nervous about. Literally no pain at all during the surgery and was 20/20 by the follow up appointment the next day! Great Dr and great team

Dr. Woolfson and his team were nothing short of amazing. I had Lasik done on January 26, 2018 and the whole process was carefully planned and calculated. I couldn't believe how efficient they operated. When I arrived I was quite nervous but that quickly went away once I got to sit in the pre-op room with David. Dr Woolfson talks with everyone prior to surgery to insure he answers any questions that you may have. The surgery was quick and I was done within about 15 min. Here it is the next day and my vision is near perfect.
