Services
Pediatric Eye Exams
Our comprehensive eye exams assess visual development in infants, toddlers, and older children. Using age-appropriate techniques, we evaluate eye alignment, focusing ability, and overall ocular health to detect conditions like amblyopia or strabismus early. The exam includes pupil dilation to accurately measure refractive errors and ensure proper diagnosis.
Strabismus Treatment
We specialize in diagnosing and treating misaligned eyes using prisms, vision therapy, and surgical correction when necessary. Our approach addresses both cosmetic concerns and functional vision problems to improve binocular coordination and prevent long-term visual impairment in children.
Cataract Surgery
Our surgeons perform pediatric cataract removal with advanced microsurgical techniques. Post-operative care includes optical correction with intraocular lenses or contact lenses, combined with vision therapy to optimize visual development and prevent amblyopia.
Telehealth Consultations
Telehealth appointments provide remote access to expert pediatric eye care using video technology. Patients receive guidance on eye health management, post-operative follow-ups, and preliminary assessments while avoiding unnecessary travel to our Spokane clinic.
Amblyopia Management
We implement evidence-based treatments for amblyopia, including patching therapy and atropine drops. Our personalized programs aim to strengthen weaker eyes through visual stimulation while monitoring progress to ensure lasting improvements in visual acuity.

The people that work here are just terriblely mean and sad older ladies. Karma will give them what they deserve. U don't get to treat people like trash and go unseen. Most of the negitive reviews here say the same as me.they can't discriminate just because they are one of the only ped eye clinic in spokane, yet they have and continue to do. Report it so they can be stopped.

My daughter had strabismus surgery when she was 3, then yearly checks for the next 6 years (she's now 9) and everything has been perfect for her since then. We have officially been discharged from care because she has had perfect vision and no other issues since he did her surgery! Great experience with Dr Whitehead. My daughter will MISS coming here to see him. :)

My son is special needs, and won't let anyone near his eyes with eye drops, but everyone was SO patient here each time we've been. They wrote us a script for dilating eye drops at home, and I was able to prep my son for doing drops at home so the doctor didn't have to. It was a much better experience than I feared it could have been, and it worked out perfectly! My son's eyes were dilated at home right before his appointment, and Doctor Nye had his script written up within 30 mins! 10/10 recommend

Northwest pediatric ophthalmology staff is amazing! We have two special-needs boys that don't like eyedrops. They have done so well with them:) Dr. Nye has helped both boys to maintain and improve their eyesight. One of our sons actually had a lesser prescription because his eyes were slightly better last time :) With bifocals my other son has his eye aligned correctly. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a kid friendly environment and the best eye care possible for their children.
