The goal of Southern Missouri Community Health Center (SMCHC) is to improve access to basic health services, to deliver compassionate, caring and respectful care to its patients and to improve the health and well-being of the community as a whole.SMCHC provides comprehensive primary healthcare to patients of all ages; mental health counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups; and dental health services to children through age seventeen.

At Southern Missouri Community Health Center is Your Healthcare Home because we have many services that will benefit you and your family like delivering your child, child medical care, child dental care, adult medical care, Women's health, and mental health. We have a full time medical doctor who practices Family Medicine with Obstetrics, a full time pediatrician, a full time doctor practicing internal medicine, and two family nurse practitioners on our medical side.On our dental side we have three full time dentists who use evidence based care to help promote healthy teeth and gums for your child.
Insurance Service

Certified Application Counselors at Southern Missouri Community Health Center can help you understand and apply for health insurance. Trained staff will show you the Health Insurance Marketplace website, where you will "shop" for and buy an insurance plan that works best for you. They will walk you through the Marketplace application so you can compare your options and enroll in a health insurance plan.
Sliding Fee Scale

SMCHC offers a sliding fee program for patients who qualify based on annual gross household income and size. Applications are required at a minimum of annually. Qualifying income levels are adjusted in March of every year based on most current poverty table levels. For those who do not file tax returns please contact SMCHC for further info.

The Rural Alliance for Better Family Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center with clinics in West Plains and Thayer, Missouri. The West Plains clinic occupies a spacious and modern facility. The clinic in Thayer occupies a modern facility and and the medical clinic at Thayer is now open full time.
