Providers
Report
Dr. Root has been practicing medicine in Portland since his residency at OHSU in 1991. He is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, and founded Oregon Sleep Associates (OSA) in 2005 in order to bring a more patient oriented approach to Sleep Medicine in Portland. In recognition of the success of OSA, he was awarded as one of Portland Monthly Magazine's Top Doctors in Sleep Medicine for 2013.
Testing Options
Report
There are four primary sleep testing options depending on your specific symptoms and suspected sleep disorder. An at-home sleep test (HST) is a wearable device with three sensors to monitor breathing during sleep. This test is an easy-to-use option for detecting various forms of sleep apnea. The ability to sleep in your own bed makes HSTs a popular option.
Cpap Department
Report
We take pride in offering quality durable medical equipment (DME) services to our patients. Our DME products include auto CPAPs, travel CPAPs, BIPAPs, auto-servo ventilation (ASV) devices, and a variety of mask options. Our experienced staff know that transitioning to CPAP is not always easy. There are often adjustments and challenges that require equipment and pressure changes when acclimating to therapy.
What To Expect At Our Sleep Center
Report
Before a sleep study can be ordered, you must first have a consultation with one of our sleep specialists. During the consultation the doctor will review your sleep concerns, symptoms, and past medical history. Based upon this analysis, the doctor will decide if a sleep study is necessary for diagnosis and treatment.
