Watauga Orthopaedics, PLC, was founded in 1950 by Howell Sherrod, MD. In addition to offering general orthopedic care, Dr. Sherrod focused the practice on innovative treatments in sports medicine, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Over the last decade, we have expanded our services to encompass a comprehensive musculoskeletal continuum, including total joint replacement; arthroscopy; sports medicine; fracture care; reconstructive hip, knee, foot and ankle surgery; hand surgery; spine surgery; neuromusculoskeletal care; physical medicine and rehabilitation; electrodiagnostics; and community outreach services.

Robert J. DeTroye, MD

Dr. Robert DeTroye grew up in Wisconsin and received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine in 1986. He completed both his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. DeTroye has a special interest in shoulder problems and their treatment using arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques.
