Amd
Report
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a deterioration of the macula inside the eye. The macula is a small area in the retina that is responsible for your central vision. This small area of the retina is much more sensitive to detail than the rest of the retina (called the peripheral retina-which gives you side vision).
Congenital Cataracts
Report
Due to abnormal development of the eye lens during pregnancy, maternal infections or genetic issues, congenital (at birth) cataracts affect about three out of every 10,000 newborns in the U.S. Children. These affected children develop cataracts before their 16th birthday and are diagnosed with pediatric cataracts or cataracts isolated from congenital abnormalities.
Contact Lens Infection
Report
Wearing contact lenses allows you to showcase your entire face without eyeglasses. If you are going to an event and want to ditch the glasses or prefer to forego glasses on a daily basis, contact lenses allow you to see without the bulking glasses adorning your face. Unfortunately, one of the downsides to these lenses is that they can contribute to eye infections.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Report
Unfortunately, diabetic patients suffer from more than just having to regulate their diets and lifestyles and possibly taking multiple medications or a regular injection to control their symptoms. Uncontrolled or under-controlled diabetes takes a toll on the cardiovascular system. Some diabetics even develop a condition known as retinopathy, which can lead to complete and permanent blindness.
