Psoriasis Diagnosis
Our diagnostic process combines physical examination with medical history analysis to identify psoriasis types. Board-certified dermatologists use specialized tools to assess skin cell patterns and rule out similar conditions. Early detection enables more effective long-term management strategies.
Topical Treatments
Customized topical regimens include corticosteroids, vitamin D analogs, and moisturizers to reduce inflammation. Treatment plans consider individual skin sensitivity and medication tolerance levels. Regular follow-ups ensure optimal formulation adjustments.
UV Light Therapy
Narrowband UVB treatments slow skin cell overproduction using calibrated light exposure. Patients typically require 3-4 weekly sessions over 8-10 weeks for maximum effectiveness. Protective measures ensure safe light exposure levels.
Laser Therapy
Excimer laser technology delivers precise UVB wavelengths to affected areas, minimizing healthy skin exposure. This advanced method achieves faster results for localized plaques compared to traditional phototherapy approaches.
Biologic Agents
Monoclonal antibodies target specific immune system components causing skin cell overgrowth. Administered through periodic injections, these treatments significantly reduce symptoms for moderate-to-severe psoriasis cases resistant to other therapies.

I have been seeing Dr. Tokarek for more than 15 years for various skin issues including eczema and psoriasis. The first time I went to see him, I had been to two other doctors before and had tried many different prescriptions, all with poor results. Dr. Tokarek was able to diagnose it immediately, and the medicine that he prescribed worked. He has always been able to see me quickly when I have a problem.
I've recommended him to countless people, including my daughter and mother-in-law. Both were very pleased with his kind manner and excellent results. He's by far the best dermatologist I've ever seen.

A long-time patient of Dr. Tokarek, after having an annual check up, I noticed something of concern. When I called for an appointment, I was told the doctor would not see me for several months. I called the office manager of Dr. Tokarek to express my disappointment and left a message for her to return the call. She did not. I went to see another doctor. The lab results led to some minor surgery. Given this apparent lack of concern for his patients, I would not recommend Dr. Tokarek to others.

I know how busy dermatologists are, but I was out of Dr takareks office in under five minutes. My body check was under 30 seconds. I asked him if he could remove a group of skin tags under my eyes. He proceeded to take a large container, l thought it was some sort of dry ice, told me to Close my eyes, and sprayed it right in my face. I had two black eyes for two weeks, and I still had the skin tags.
I was 68 years old at the time, and I could tell that the doctor had no time whatsoever for older women. He treats my daughter-in-law, he takes his time with her. I certainly don't want special treatment, but I would like a little kindness and courtesy from my doctor. Of course I would never go back to that practice again.

Always pleasant, professional, competent, caring & thorough. Always accommodating. My husband & I have been seeing Dr Tokarek for many, many years, since before the Hartsville office was open. So much more convenient now, as we can walk there.

I had a rare skin disease, grannuloma annular, and he immediately diagnosed it. I did go to Penn and they confirmed his diagnosis.
