In the 1930s, just as pediatric medicine was being refined, Dr. James C. Overall opened the pediatric practice that would become Old Harding Pediatric Associates (OHPA). Many childhood illnesses were common at the time, with devastating effects on the health of children. It was in this challenging time that Dr. Overall set out to serve the children and families of Nashville.
Then, in the late 30s, the growing practice added Dr. Joe Strayhorn, in a partnership that would span 35 years. Although pediatric care has made great strides since OHPA was founded, our current physicians share Dr. Overall's original vision for state-of-the-art pediatric care that consistently seeks new opportunities to improve the health of children.

The Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a care delivery model whereby patient treatment is coordinated through their primary care physician to ensure they receive the necessary care when and where they need it, in a manner they can understand.For the convenience of patients, OHPA has offices in two locations.

Old Harding Pediatrics hosts a monthly class for new parents. It is led by physicians from our practice and deals with the basic but important information to help you from the time your baby is born through the first few weeks. The class includes topics such as immunizations, bathing, feeding, rashes, sleeping and many other topics!
