Cataracts develop over time especially in individuals over the age of 40. A cataract is formed when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy, making the vision blurry and requiring more light to see. It is important to have an eye exam if you notice that your vision is diminished. Cataract surgery is performed in an outpatient setting and the patient returns home several hours after the surgery.

In the 1990s I was serving as a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer. Many of my colleagues were getting PRK surgery. I started wearing prescription glasses in the 6th grade; As a police officer it was not very convenient. So, I met with Dr. Greenman and, needless to say, I was a candidate for the surgery.
