The abortion pill, also referred to as medical abortion or medication abortion, is actually two different pills: the first pill is taken at the Alamo Women's Clinic, and then the other pill is taken no longer than 72 hours later, at home. The first pill, Mifepristone, blocks the hormone necessary for pregnancy and the second pill, Misoprostol, stimulates your uterus to cramp, bleed and expel the pregnancy - similar to a miscarriage. How you take the Misoprostol will be explained to you before you leave the Alamo Women's Clinic.
