Our Doctors
Report
Dr. Elias Aliprandis is a fellowship-trained corneal specialist who received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Cataract Surgery
Report
One of the most common problems seen in elderly patients is cataract formation. The lens of the eye, which is normally clear and allows light to focus properly onto the back of the eye, becomes progressively cloudy with age, causing significant visual disturbances. When a cataract has progressed, the vision can no longer be corrected with eyeglasses.
Glaucoma Care and Screening
Report
Glaucoma is a serious eye condition that can cause blindness if untreated. It affects about 2% of whites and 8% of African Americans over the age of 40. Glaucoma causes no symptoms until it is very advanced; this is why it's often called "the sneak thief of sight."
General Eye Care
Report
The doctors at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge perform eye examinations for patients of all ages. During your eye exam, we will determine if a change in eyeglass prescription is needed, check the eye pressure, and evaluate the health of the front and the back of your eyes. Your Brooklyn ophthalmologist may recommend dilation of your pupils to fully visualize the back of the eye (optic nerve and retina). In most cases, patients are able to drive after dilation, but reading vision can be affected for a few hours.
