Lakeview Surgery Center is a joint venture of The Iowa Clinic, P.C. and Iowa Health-Des Moines. Currently, we serve over 600 patients and their families per month. Over 125 Central Iowa physicians representing many physician groups and specialties have clinical privileges at Lakeview Surgery Center. All of our physicians are either board-eligible or board certified in their specialties-which means they have the knowledge, commitment, and compassion to provide the highest quality medical care available in Iowa.

We are pleased that you and your surgeon have selected Lakeview Surgery Center for your care. We want to work with you to make this a very positive experience. We work with your physician to minimize waiting time and to provide you with the information you need to prepare for and recover from your procedure.
Preparing for Surgery
Report
One or two days before your planned surgery, you will be contacted by a member of the Lakeview Surgery Center's nursing staff who will review your medical history, including any medications you are currently taking. The nurse will also provide instructions on how to prepare for your surgery and arrival time at the surgery center.
Evening Prior
Report
Unless instructed differently by your nurse do not eat, chew gum or use chewing tobacco after midnight the evening prior to surgery. Do not take any medications after midnight, unless instructed to do so by your physician or the surgery center staff. The surgery center staff will give you specific instructions regarding your medication when you receive your arrival call the day prior to surgery.
Day of
Report
Please bathe or shower the morning of your surgery, but do not use lotions or oils after bathing. You may brush your teeth, remembering not to swallow anything. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is big enough to accommodate a large bandage after surgery. Also wear comfortable shoes. All makeup, jewelry, piercings, contact lenses, and dentures must be removed prior to surgery.
