Dr. Cason is a residency trained optometrist and has received several awards and scholarships while completing his Doctor of Optometry degree, including the Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal and the Dean's Scholarship. He has experience in treating and managing a variety of ocular conditions, with a particular interest in glaucoma, uveitis, and corneal conditions.

At Rutzen Eye, our doctors are available to care for your general eye care needs and are specially trained to care for patients needing cataract surgery, corneal transplants, and other eye diseases and conditions that occur in the front of the eye. While we are happy to provide general eye care, we do not perform refractions (glasses or contact lens fittings).

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete the registration process. If your insurance carrier requires you to have a referral, you must bring a copy with you. Without the referral, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment. We participate with a wide variety of insurance plans.

Cataract Surgery

A child may be born with cataracts or develop them at an early age. These cataracts, called congenital cataracts, may be caused by a genetic disorder (such as Down syndrome) or by a condition the mother had during pregnancy (such as German measles). They also may be inherited. Cataracts don't spread from one eye to the other, but many people have cataracts in both eyes.

A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens inside your eye that leads to a decrease in vision. We all get cataracts if we live long enough.
