Your Trusted Hospice Care Provider in Yuma, AZ
Hospice of Yuma was founded in 1981 through the dedication of community volunteers who recognized the need for end-of-life care in Yuma County. Our organization began with a steering committee of healthcare professionals, clergy, and community members who met for two years to establish the foundation of our services. We welcomed our first patient in October 1981 and have since grown to provide comprehensive hospice care from our permanent facility at 1824 S. 8th Avenue since 1991. Our team of highly skilled registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and medical professionals offers 24/7 pain and symptom management tailored to individual needs. We specialize in bilingual English/Spanish services, spiritual and emotional support, and access to community resources for patients and families. Our respite care program provides temporary relief to caregivers, while our charitable care initiative ensures services remain accessible to those with financial constraints. We maintain partnerships with local facilities to deliver care in homes, nursing homes, or assisted living communities. Our grief support services include counseling, support groups, and community events to help individuals process loss. As Yuma County's only nonprofit hospice provider, we remain committed to compassionate care, community education, and veteran support programs. Our three-decade legacy reflects our founders' vision of accessible, dignified end-of-life care rooted in community collaboration.

When I told my brother I became a hospice volunteer, he said "Gee, that must be depressing." I informed him that it was just the opposite. You are reaching someone at the neediest and perhaps the loneliest time of their life, so you know you are doing good. You simply walk away happy.

Where to start! We are often guided to places in our lives without fully understanding at that time why. I was lead to Hospice of Yuma over 4 years ago to become a Volunteer. Little did I realize the impact of volunteering would have on me as I lived my own life. I have witnessed first hand what Hospice truly means. I have witnessed first hand the absolute kindness and caring that comes from this non-profit.
I will never, ever forget the impact of being affiliated with Hospice of Yuma. I am grateful to have spent time with those who's journey was nearing an end. Even I have had dear friends contact me who's time was nearing to ask me how it worked with Hospice of Yuma. I told them that all they needed to do was make the call, Hospice of Yuma will take care of them and their needs. I learned that even I had a misunderstanding of what "Hospice" was. Hospice of Yuma helps you and your loved ones to "live" through those precious final days. Their patient care is phenomenal with much love and care.

During a very scary night my brother could not breath and we all were panicking. We called Angie Hill and she came to the house immediately. She helped us turn him and cleared his throat so he could breathe. He fell asleep and passed peacefully that night. So thankful for Angie.
