We founded North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic in 2003, bringing over two decades of orthopedic expertise to Durham and the surrounding communities. We are proud to be Duke University's first community-based clinic, maintaining the same rigorous standards of care that define Duke Health. Our team consists of fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, each specializing in a distinct area such as sports medicine, joint replacement, hand, foot and ankle, spinal, and podiatric care. We leverage this specialized training to diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions with precision and confidence. We operate a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation technology, allowing us to deliver comprehensive care under one roof. Our integrated approach ensures patients receive coordinated services from initial evaluation through postoperative rehabilitation without needing multiple appointments elsewhere.

We prioritize a patient-centered philosophy, taking the time to listen to each individual's concerns and tailoring treatment plans to their specific needs and goals. Our commitment to personalized service has earned recognition for many of our physicians on the Best Doctors in America List. We accept all insurance plans contracted with the Duke Health Integrated Practice, including workers' compensation, to reduce financial barriers to care. We focus on clinical excellence, transparent communication, and measurable outcomes to drive continuous improvement and patient satisfaction. I was basically shrugged off. Came in for pain in my calf and thigh. They took xrays, but was told by my doctor basically that I'm too fat for them to help. Couldn't even get a brace because he said my leg is too big? Never been so offended by a medical practice. I expected much more from this place, which is why I made the 40 minute drive. Disappointing.

I wish they gave option for 10 stars. Dr. Klifto and his nurse assistant has always been stellar and have seen me and my son both. I wish my brother could come to NC from Florida to have his surgery don here with him.

I had 2 hips replaced by Dr. Scott S. Kelley this year after they began deteriorate. He did the work in the middle of the Covid mess, so April & June & they are doing sooooo well now in November. I can walk again. I have developed a sciatica for which I have see Dr. Tawney at the same clinic and am going through physical therapy at the same clinic. All stop shopping for those of us with messed up bones! LOL The doctors are professional, good listeners, know their specialty, & are fantastic about letting you know they are serious about your procedure and the healing thereafter. Their staffs, Emily, Adrian, & right hand guy, Jamey Messersmith for Dr. Kelley & Malinda for Dr. Tawney are kind, informative, & efficient. No fear here, just great work! Thanks to all! Q

I wish I could give Dr. Klifko's office more stars but until they root out the unnecessarily rude behaviour of the screening person at the door (Kim?). It was confusing to know where to check in and the lady berated me repeatedly. I will say that Dr. Klifko is an outstanding doctor and deserves better representation. I came very close to the first time ever walking out of an appointment except that it was an urgent need.

So thankful for Dr. Kristo and staff, both in office and at Duke Regional Hospital. So caring and compassionate with me. Most definitely will recommend to others!

Two months ago, I had a total hip replacement by Dr. Scott Kelley. It's an amazing procedure. I was most impressed by the efficiency of North Carolina Orthpaedics and how everyone from Dr. Kelley to Jamie Messersmith to the rest of the staff took time to provide high quality and and to answer all of my questions. I had full confidence being with such a top notch surgeon and well trained staff. Additionally, the care from everyone at Duke Regional Hospital was exceptional.
