Dr. Nelson earned a degree in engineering prior to attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After completing a residency in ophthalmology at Wake Forest Eye Center in Winston-Salem, NC, he completed his fellowship training in cataract and lens implant surgery under Dr. Lynn McMahan. Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
